 Dissertation Title: Development of Efficient and Reliable Spectrum Sensing
Techniques for Future Generation of Cooperative Cognitive Radio Networks
 Name of the Supervisor: Dr. Seemanti Saha, Asst. Professor, NIT Patna
 Name of the Co-Supervisor: Dr. Rajarshi Bhattacharya, Asst. Professor, NIT Patna

 Contributions in the thesis: This research proposes highly efficient and reliable spectrum
sensing techniques for future generation cognitive radio networks (CRNs). In this research,
first, the novel edge detection algorithms based on continuous wavelet transform and discrete
wavelet transform have been developed for wideband CRNs. This research, also investigates
the spectrum sensing in cooperative CRNs, where optimal log likelihood ratio based hard-
soft combing is proposed to improve the overall detection probability with less sensing
overhead. Here, novel weight vector estimation is obtained using trust factor, reporting
channel SNR and sensing channel SNR. A novel spectrum sensing scheme for multiuser
multiple-input-multiple-output cooperative cognitive radio networks is also studied and a
MAC layer decision confidence algorithm for the selection of the number of sensing antennas
at FC is proposed. This research also aims the realization/experimental studies on
Energy/Eigenvalue based spectrum sensing algorithm using NI USRP 2942R hardware
devices in OFDM in order to demonstrate its feasibility in real time communication systems.
Moreover, this research also explores the machine learning/deep learning-based algorithms
and their application in the domain of wireless communication. The performance analysis

shows that the developed algorithms outperform the existing spectrum sensing techniques in
terms of probability of detection, false alarm probability and total error probability.

Project Title: Hybrid Digital Watermarking
Project Detail: In this project digital image is divided in matrix form by using wavelet
transform and a signature or code is hidden in the image. The main challenge is to maintain
the quality of image and image should appear as an original image. This project basically
dealt with security of digital image. MATLAB is used for the coding purpose.
