(All questions are compulsory)

1) (a)If 5 cos 𝜃 + 12 sin 𝜃 = 13 ,find the value of sin 𝜃.

1
(b)Find the value of cot 170 (cot 730 . 𝑐𝑜𝑠 2 220 + tan 730 .𝑠𝑒𝑐 2680 ).

(c)Prove that = .
sin 𝜃+cos 𝜃−1 sec 𝜃−tan 𝜃

2) (a)(i) If sin(𝜃 + 100 ) = sec(800 − 𝜃) then find the value of 𝜃.

(ii)If cosec 𝜃 cos(𝜃 + 540 ) = 1, find the value of 𝜃.
sin 𝜃 sin 𝜃
(b)Prove that cot 𝜃+cosec 𝜃 = 2 + cot 𝜃−cosec 𝜃.
(c)If 𝑐𝑜𝑠 2 𝐴 − 𝑠𝑖𝑛2 𝐴 = 𝑡𝑎𝑛2 𝐵 , prove that 𝑡𝑎𝑛2 𝐴 = 𝑐𝑜𝑠 2 𝐵 − 𝑠𝑖𝑛2 𝐵.

3) (a)If cos 𝜃 − sin 𝜃 = √2 sin 𝜃 prove that cos 𝜃 + sin 𝜃 = √2 cos 𝜃.

(b)The angle of elevation of a cloud from a point 60m above a lake is 30° and the of depression of the
reflection of the cloud in the lake is 60°.find the height of the cloud from the surface of the lake .

(c)A man on the top of a tower observes a truck at an angle of depression 𝛼 where tan 𝛼 = and sees
√5
that it is moving towards the bast of the tower. Ten minutes later, the angle of depression of the truck is
found to be 𝛽 where tan 𝛽 = √5. Assuming that the truck moves at a uniform speed, determine how
much more time it will take to reach the base of the tower.

4) (a)In Fig., from an external point P, a tangent PT and a line segment PAB is drawn to a circle with centre O.
ON is perpendicular on the chord AB. Prove that :
(i) PA. PB = PN2 – AN2
(ii) PN2 – AN2 = OP2 – OT2
(iii) PA.PB = PT2.

(b)In the given figure. AB is a diameter of the circle.

Chords AC and AD produced meet the tangent to the circle at point B in points P and
Q respectively. Prove that AB2 = AC x AP

(c)In ∆ABC, ∠ACB = 90° and CD ⊥ AB. Prove that: 𝐴𝐶 2 = 𝐴𝐷

5) (a)In the given figure. Lengths of arcs APB and BQC are in the ratio 5: 3 and angle AOC
= 152o ; find angle ACB and angle BAC.

(b)In trapezium ABCD. AB//DC and DC = 2 AB. EF, drawn parallel to AB cuts AD in
F and BC in E such that 4 BE = 3 EC. Diagonal DB intersects FE at point G. Prove
that 7 EF = 10 AB.

(c)In the given figure ABCD is a parallelogram and AP:PB=3:5.Calculate
