Provincial Disaster Resilience Month Culmination

Program and Fire Olympics 2019

“Knowledge is the key to survival, and the real beauty of it is that, it doesn’t weigh
anything”

My utmost respect to all Honored Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, Maupay

na Buntag! Good Morning!

It is my privilege to be here in front of you all. It is of great symbolic

importance to us all to be here participating this years’ Provincial Disaster
Resilience Month Culmination Program and Fire Olympics. This kind of event
provides us a platform to design effective, realistic, and coordinated planning,
reduces duplication of efforts and increase the overall effectiveness of our
National Societies, household and community members’ disaster preparedness
and response efforts. And I can say, Camiguin is geared toward propelling to
become a Disaster Resilient Island.

On behalf of the Philippine Coast Guard Station Camiguin, I would like to

convey my gratitude to the Local Government of Camiguin for inviting us, and
for letting us to be part of this immense event. To the five municipalities where
we conducted Water Search and Rescue Trainings, we commend your
decisiveness. And to all the Participants or shall I call Responders, keep it up!
Emergency preparedness is a team sport.

Finally, before I close, I would like to share the words of Hal Lindsey,

“Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water,
about eight minutes without air… but only for second without hope”

Let’s not lose hope Camiguin! Padayon sa pag uswag! And once again
Maupay na Buntag ug Dakol na Salamat! 😊
