Factually, mass media has been closely associated with popular culture, which

introduces and encourages certain trends to be adopted. We can see these mainstream media as

"trendsetters," people or institutions that shape the way others feel, consume ideas, talk, eat,

wear clothes, and so on. The topic that we’ve chosen for our Pinterest board was Aesthetic

Outfit Ideas – as wide-ranging as it sounds, we have narrowed it down by classifying them to

certain groups of styles to understand the trending styles of today. Aesthetic means the pleasant,

positive or artful appearance of a person or a thing. We chose this topic (of all topics that we

brainstormed) because, it is surely a trend that is mostly followed by teenagers to young adults

as they love dressing-up and being fashionable just so, they look appealing and trendy. Trends

in fashion change every day, it cannot remain unchanged. In contrast to other types of art, a

fashion outfit's aesthetics importance relies on how it appears on the human body.

When we worked on this topic, it was too broadly general at first. Thus, we studied

about Aesthetic Fashion beforehand, creating the board. Our board, consists of the main fashion

trends which range from:

 Vintage 90’s

 Grunge Rock

 Minimalistic

 Pastel & Hipster

 Arts Hoe

These trend-setting fashion styles, are the latest outfit themes that are the OOTD’s of

Instagram these days. The Vintage 90’s focuses on floral or just cool printed graphics on soft-

collared T-shirts that were the trend of the 90’s that is now being brought back as a form of

appreciation to the era. Grunge Rock speaks for its name itself – which is about rough form
that has chains attached to its pants as a symbolism and shirts portraying with rock culture. The

minimalist look however sounds monotonous but in fact is the most unique style of them all –

It’s basically office wear but to the next level – where people can bring their formal-wear-game

to the next phase of looking stylish. Pastel and Hipster focuses on pastel colours of course,

which gives the person wearing them a soft and hip look. Lastly, we have the Art Hoe style –

which is exactly all about wearing outfits that puts out a statement that you love “Art”. Like

rainbow themed T-shirts and hoodies and even socks! It gives the person wearing it a bright

and hippy look. It also accentuates on early Renaissance artwork by well-known artists like

Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo.

The reason Aesthetic Outfits are under Attention Economy is because, it is mainly worn

to take pictures, aside of wearing it to feel good for the person. Today’s society crave for

attention and outfits are a way to ultimately express oneself and so, this trend comes under

attention economy. It is mainly trending among the youth aged between 13 to 25. This age

group loves dressing up and are active in social media thus value the #OOTD pretty much all

the time. The goal is to spread the vibes that they intend to spread through their choice of

clothing and style. These #OOTD outfits, also known as, Aesthetic Outfits can be mainly found

on social media Platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest. We also found that it trends in

Tumblr too.
