TITLE: Bullying

AUDIENCE: 4th and 5th grade

OBJECTIVE:

1. The students will be able to identify what bullying is.

2. The students will be able to identify feelings and behaviors of what bullying looks like

3. The students will be able to identify what behaviors are displayed by those who bully and

those who do not bully.

Need: “Bullying” was identified as a guidance lesson because of the purpose of teaching students

how to be kind to one another. The need for students to also demonstrate acceptance is for the

school wide programming of T.A.K.E.S. Pride.

MATERIALS /RESOURCES:

1. “Confessions of a Former Bully” By: Trudy Ludwig

2. T-Chart Worksheet

ACTIVITY: (30 minutes.)

1. In the beginning of the lesson students will talk about how kindness and acceptance go

together. Students will be able to identify that Acceptance is their T.A.K.E.S Pride theme this

month. Students will be directed to go to the carpet to sit for the reading of the book

“Confessions of a Former Bully” By: Trudy Ludwig (5 minutes)

2. Students will listen to the story being read. Students will be asked prompting questions to

encourage conversations on bullying. (15 minutes)


3. Students will be asked to go back to seats to complete T-chart on good friendship

behaviors versus bullying behavior. (5 minutes)

SWBAT: KNOWLEDGE/REMEMBER- The students will know how what it means to be a

bully.
SWBAT: DESCRIBE/EXPLAIN- The students will be able to explain what bullying behaviors

look like.

SWBAT: ANALYZING- The students will know how bullying behaviors effect other people and

how they make them feel.

SWBAT: CREATING- The students will be able to separate good friendship behaviors and

bullying behaviors.

EVALUATION DATA

Process Data: Students will participate within discussion of bullying.

Perception Data: Students will listen and participate in discussion when being read the story.

Results Data: Students will demonstrate kind and accepting behaviors.
