Clap switch means…!!
 Clap switch is switch can switch on/off any electrical circuit by the
sound of the clap.

Principle….
Converts the sound signal into electrical energy.
Circuit Diagram
Components are….
 PCB
 4.7k resistor
 470 ohm resistor
 1k resistor
 IC 4017
 Transistor 2n2222
 LED
 Relay
 Condenser mic
Advantages
 The primary application involves an elderly or mobility-impared person.
 We can turn something(e.g. a lamp) on and off from any location in the
room(e.g. while lying in the bed) simply by clapping our hands.
 Low cost and reliable circuit.
 Complete elimination of man power.
 Energy efficient.

Disadvantages
 It is a generally cumbersome to have to clap one’s hand to something on
or off and it is greatly seen as simpler for most use cases to use a
traditional light switch.
 Unless we use a filter in the circuit , it is not that advantageous. So that
circuit activates only for clap of particular frequencies and then it
becomes accurate.
Conclusion
Hereby we would like to conclude that this circuit is very much
useful to switch ON and OFF the household appliances just by
clapping hand. This circuit functions on using the sound energy
provided by the clap which is converted into electrical energy by
condenser mic.

Title of the project: Using Transistor Construct a Clap Switch.

COs addressed by the project:

The theory, practical experiences and relevant soft skills associated with
this course are to be taught And implement so that the student
demonstrated the following industry oriented Co’s associated With the
above-mentioned competency.
1. Use Transistor as low Power amplifier.
2. Use BJT as high Power amplifier.

Major learning outcomes achieved by students by doing the project

(a) Practical outcomes:
1. Build/Test the performance of two stage RC coupled common emitter
amplifier using Transistor.
2. Build/Test the performance of single tuned amplifier using
Transistor.
3. Build/Test the performance parameter of Class B push pull amplifier
using Transistor.
(b)Unit outcomes in Cognitive domain:
1. Select the appropriate BJT with the help of data sheet.
2. Mount the electronic component on PCB as per circuit diagram.
3. Compare the observe output with the expected output.
