A. Review
Rounds to the nearest hundred.

B. Motivation
Form four groups of three pupils each. Give each group two sets of
number cards (numbers 0 through 9). Give these directions:
a. Each member of the group takes a number. As a number is called,
group members line to form that number.
Example: 654

b. The first group to form the number correctly wins.

C. Presentation
Show a video or powerpoint about rounding off numbers to the nearest thousand.

D. Discussion
What is the video all about?
How many digit numbers are there?
Post a chart with numbers rounding off to the nearest thousands.
Study the number line to find the answer.

So, what is 29 rounded to the nearest tens?
John spent his vacation in Manila for about 30 days.
20, 21, 22, 23, 24, are nearer to 20.
When rounded to the nearest tens, their number is 20.

25, 26, 27, 28, 29 are nearer to 30. When rounded to the nearest
tens, their number is 30.

round off
numbers? Why is it important to know about rounding off numbers?
