EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

I. Introduction

By conducting the educational tour, it can help us students to be more

knowledgeable and familiar with the things that are related to their course. Educational
tour gives us ideas likewise opportunity to visit company with innovative technology and
to be able to experience what it’s like to be there. Moreover, it is important to every
student since it is a part of our learning process and to acquire more knowledge
through the actual exposure to the different machines and equipment and system
operations of the company. For this reason, the University of Nueva Caceres, College of
Engineering provides high standard of education to the students with the incorporation
of field trip/ seminars in the curriculum.

II. Objectives of the Tour

The specific objectives of the tour are:

1. Real-world experience - Students practice their skills and critical thinking abilities outside of
the controlled class setting. Being about able to ask experts about their particular area of study
on the spot requires thinking. He is able to learn real-world lessons.
2. Reinforcement - The tour can reinforce or support what a teacher has been instructing in
class about a subject and help students understand a topic better.
3. Engagement- Teachers turn tours into mobile classrooms, and engage students to collect
data then assigning a project based on what they learned during the duration of the tour.
4. Socialization- Taking students into a new environment give us the experience of traveling in
a group and teach us to socialize and to be respectful of the locations they visit.
5. New Insights- The tour can give new insights of the things outside the school which can
raise encouragements.
6. Bonding -They may be able to connect on more of a personal level without the structure
of the normal school days. Students may be able to spend much of the trip day in small groups,
observing, chatting and learning about each other, and it will form a new bond among the
students.
7. Fun - No matter how much the students learn during a tour, their favorite memories may be
based on their enjoyment of the day. Students will have fun with their friends and they also may
return to the classroom with a renewed focus on their schoolwork

III. Significance of the Tour

The tour provided valuable educational opportunities away from the classroom, without
using textbooks and other used in normal school setting. Students on educational tours can
often learn while having fun in a more informal environment.
Part of how students benefit from educational tours is by gaining new perspective on the
world. This is especially true for more extensive educational tours or trips where students travel
farther away from home. By coming into direct contact with a different environment or even a
new culture, students can better understand their place in the community and develop
openness to differences in others.

IV. The Educational Tour

Prior to the actual visiting on companies, we then headed to different destinations in

Central Luzon, Manila and Laguna where we were assisted by personnel, which provided us
insights and chances for our questions to be entertained. Relevant information was acquired
and actual exposure to the company environment and control systems was experienced.
Aviat Networks

September 23th 2019 we departed to Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines to visit Aviat
Networks, we see microwave and other communication stuffs. The Aviat Networks is an trusted
expert in wireless transport. Aviat exists to provide dependable products, services, and support
customers and is the trusted expert in wireless transport. The Aviat Engineer said that one of the
most challenging part of their work there is need to be carefull for the equipment of the
company because inside the aviat company the equipment is very expensive, She/He said that
there were times that they needed carefully Disassemble the items to repair it to avoid the
failure or accidentally make the mistake.Example of the aviat product is Gigabit microwave
networks Microwave backhaul, Microwave Radio, Microwave transmission, Microwave

The tour then headed to Subic Technopark we had head our way next to Nicera Phils.
The personnel there then discussed about the basic operations in production of the company,
he/she discussed about the safety precautions, capability of the machines and other relevant
information about the process of operations of their product. The speaker there discussed about
the History of their company. He/she said that Nicera Philippines Inc. was officially established on
March 2001. A Japanese firm that provides products in advanced field in order to provide
beneficial and superior end effect of ultrasonic sensor products. Formally, the company has a
strong venture backing from Nippon Ceramics Co., Ltd., a Japanese company established in
1975 at Tottorri, Japan.

DOST-ASTI

The Second day of our travel, we ate our breakfast in hotel before heading out. By 7:00
am we had a first company visit of the day in DOST-ASTI. in ASTI Entrance Rd, Diliman, Quezon
City, 1800 Metro Manila, Philippines .The Advanced Science and Technology Institute is an
agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-ASTI) mandated to undertake
research and development activities aimed at strengthening and modernizing Information and
Communications Technology and microelectronics. The young engineer in PEDRO CENTER
discuss about the satellite tracking antenna in the country and a Ground Receiving Station to
access earth-surface information for disaster management, environmental monitoring, national
security, urban mapping, rehabilitation assessment, and research purposes. They show us their
Laboratory and visually we see how data collected from space using their satellite called
Diwata 1 and 2.We walk a little bit to see one of the replica of diwata satellite and we are all
excited to meet one of the Filipino who made that satellite. He show us how the parts of diwata
replica and the function of it in the space and he demo the used of equipment inside the
laboratory.

Pililla Windmill

The tour also visits the Pilillia Windmill in Manila E Rd, Pililla, Rizal. The personnel in the site
discussed about the operations, maintenance and other relevant information regarding the
power plant. He discussed Power Plant has consists of 27 wind turbine generators grouped into
three clusters with aggregate capacity of 54 megawatts (MW). He said that the output of a wind
turbine depends on the turbine's size and the wind's speed through the rotor. An average
onshore wind turbine with a capacity of 2.5–3 MW can produce more than 6 million kWh in a
year – enough to supply 1,500 average EU households with electricity It operates primarily as a
peaking plant during periods each day when the electrical output of base and inter-mediate
load power plants cannot fulfill consumer demand.
As an computer engineering student, this provided good insights regarding the capability
of the renewable power energy. Moreover, the tour visits the actual site of the power plant
where the generators and other power plant equipment and controls systems were located.

PLDT INNOLAB
The tour also visits the PLDT-INNOLAB in Mandaluyong,Metro Manila. PLDT Innolab is a
world-class facility where innovative products and business solutions are tested and developed,
and where PLDT’s field experts provide training, ICT services and other technical assistance to
the digital clientele. At the same day one of the university in apayao are with us they also
conducting educational tour in PLDT-INNOLAB. The speaker discuss about the innovative
technology to produce high quality of internet in our country. The personnel of PLDT tour us
inside the company and discuss how company start and grow.

show us the video of the festo history, We are amazed the they make a butterfly using their
technology. The personnel demo the use of their product inside the laboratory the Pneumatic
drives, Servo-pneumatic positioning systems, Valve terminals, Control technology etc.

CAAP

The tour also visits the CAAP (Manila airways facilities complex) in Pasay, Philippines. The station
was established since 2008 and as I observed they use old equipment which are mostly Digital
type for their measurements. As the personnel discussed, the equipment are not working
condition because they transfer the station to the new building .The station we visit is the old
station inside the company although there are old but some of the equipment still power on,. He
also discussed about the airways elements and other information regarding airways facilities
then discussed about different equipment and its functions.

GMA Network Studio

We traveled to Timog Avenue to visit the GMA Network Studio. It was raining hard as we
reached our destination and waited outside for a moment before entering the building, strict
policies I guess and the tour coordinator of the network is still preparing some stuffs. There were
different studios, the studio 2 was a small room and was the former studio of most of the new
reporting programs of the network like that of the NewsTV Channel. Then most of the programs
were transferred to a bigger studio in studio 5. AS we entered the studio, it was massive with
lights suspended almost close to the ground and only lifted used. The other studios were almost
the same so there’s not much to say about it. We finish early earlier than we expected.

Analog Devices

The tour also visits the Analog devices in General Trias, Cavite. Analog Devices, Inc., also
known simply as Analog, is an American multinational semiconductor company specializing in
data conversion, signal processing and power management technology. The personnel discuss
about the opportunity to work in their company, She/he discuss the possible benefits as an
employee of the company. Also they offered scholarship for young engineering student and
provide (OJT) training for them with salary. We meet also our Friend Engr.Vargas inside the
company he work in analog devices after he graduate from our University. After we Finish
analog tour coordinator give us snacks and we are all happy .
Bangko central Data Center

We travelled to Manila after visiting analog devices in Cavite our last destination is Bangko
central. The personnel discuss various projects and activities to support the economic and social
development objectives of the government through advocacy programs in financial inclusion
financial education and consumer protection overseas Filipinos' .The tour coordinator show the
data center of their company and we are all amazed that all digital banking in our country they
manage it, the work inside the BSP is very confidential. after the tour in BSP we are headed to
MOA , We used our remaining time to take a mall trip. Then back to Naga city and we travelled
at night.

I gained understanding to a lot of things upon the tour, some are new information for me
and some are not. Mostly, what I have learned are not about the things the company are being
particular of, actually, it’s about how engineering improves and serve people. By making the
tour and having those companies visited actually planted the reality of life to us. It made us
realized what to do, how to do things, why we should do, when to do thing accordingly, most of
our questions were answered. The exposure and engagement we had will greatly affect our
attitude towards the movement on the industry today.
