REVIEW THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ARROGANT

People tends to know that arrogant is some kind of a misleading behavior that leads into
destruction and catastrophe. But to be truth, well arrogant has a meaning of having or
revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own important or abilities. But in some ways,
arrogant behavior is sometimes needed to make something works on track. In this
review about the article of “the importance of being arrogant”, arrogant is pointed as a
way to change a continuity of an old cultures and expand the way of life to meets today
challenge and face it no matter what the risk will be in the future.
Indonesia’s has been one of the country that most Europeans and Americans
would invest in such a big pile of money. Why? Because Indonesia has the most useful
and profitable kind of natural resources in the world. History books said that in old days,
Indonesia was coveted by the Europeans and also Asians and it is. For nearly 5 centuries,
Indonesia was colonized by 4 big countries, Portuguese, Dutch, British Empire, and
Japan. These 4 big countries were giving an immense influence on how Indonesians life
right now. No wonder after 50 years of independence and declaration, Indonesia has
not yet been a successful country despite having millions of tons of useful natural
resources and that includes uranium.
So what is the relation of being arrogant and the way of Indonesians life
today? As you know according to the article, the way of Indonesians life today was
considered to be “too nice”. According to the facts that the author analyzes by how
Indonesians life, it turns out that Indonesians still can not adapt on how the world is
turning right now. The continuity of old cultures in generations is still being rooted
firmly. Cooperation, compromise, harmony, and respect is considered as top priority
than other special values like arrogant. Being nice is not wrong at all, but on how this
world turning right now, being nice is also must be accompanied by a through analysis.
This through analysis requires one or more behavior that considered maybe as “bad”
like arrogant. In some ways, globalizations also take influence on how Indonesians life,
but again Indonesians considered this as a “friendly help” rather than to take on chances
like business well it also comes with a great risk. In fact, globalization has been the most
effective way for other countries to exploit Indonesia and make a huge profitable
business for them leaving Indonesia with only a small portion of advantage. Worse still,
Indonesians have enjoyed and comfortably with this conditions without noticing that
they were being destroyed.
According to the review above, yes, Indonesia needs to act arrogant maybe beyond on
how Indonesians life today. Looking right now, it was hard to imagine how will the
future answer to the people of Indonesia. Without changes, without being arrogant,
without being “bad”, I believe Indonesia is degrading as the time goes by. To change
something, you don’t need to be smart like Einstein, but you need courage and skills and
strong mental to face tomorrow challenge and obstacles. No matter what the result is,
at least you try. Because like intellectual said “success is always start with a failure, if it
not, well it isn’t a success”.
