RE: Offer to reimburse for expenses in connection with Title IX matter

Dear Ms. Nilsen,

Rhodes College greatly appreciates your participation in its Title IX process, including
making yourself available for the Formal Resolution Hearing previously scheduled for Saturday,
August 3, 2019, especially in light of the respondent’s ongoing litigation with Rhodes. As you
know, your hearing ultimately did not go forward because the parallel lawsuit was resolved with
the respondent not being enrolled at Rhodes now or in the future, which is comparable to the
maximum sanction of expulsion that he could have received as a result of your Hearing.

Though this result eliminated the need for your Formal Resolution Hearing, it is Rhodes’
understanding that you incurred $2,929.54 of personal expenses in connection with the hearing.
Rhodes does not reimburse either claimants or respondents for expenses related to its Title IX
processes or Formal Resolution Hearings, but Rhodes recognizes that your circumstances are
unique.

Therefore, Rhodes offers to reimburse you for your expenses in connection with the Formal
Resolution Hearing in exchange for your agreement to maintain confidentiality: we ask that you
agree to not disclose any aspect of Rhodes’ investigation and administration of your Title IX claim,
and particularly this letter and its proposed payment arrangement, either privately (other than to
your family or your spiritual, financial, medical, or legal advisors) or in any public forum. If this
proposal is acceptable to you, please sign this letter below and provide us with a completed W9
form for payment processing.
