2. What next for Google? Is it doing the right thing taking on Microsoft with its cloud
computing, Apple in the fight for smart phones, and the Chinese government on censorship
search?
Google has developed enormously its ability with its multiple services, application and tools. it
creates and distributes its products for free. which in turn, provides new opportunities for the
company to sell additional targeted advertising space.
On cloud computing, google is doing the right thing because they introduce the cloud computing
application such as the google drive where it is easier, more convenient, and allows the
individuals to store, manage, and access documents from any device with an internet connection
instead of owning a physical infrastructure and software.
In the mobile category, google launched an android in 2008 a mobile operating system, google
went head to head with apple's iPhone. Androids benefit is, it is free, open sourced and backed
by multi-million-dollar investment. If google could influences millions of new consumers to use
smart phones it could also make billions in mobile advertising. That's why in 2010 google
launched its own android mobile phone. Google's goal is to reach as many people as possible on
the web-whether by PC or by phone. The more users on the web the more advertising google can
sell.
Google's various services have been suspected of having been subject to malicious interference
from the Great Firewall of China, as a result of which users became unable to access them. Since
then users from China found that Google's services (Google Play, Gmail, Google Docs, etc.)
could not be accessed or used normally, including login to Google Account. Google planned to
make an own search engine in China but has been terminated according to VP of Government
Affairs and Public Policy at Google Karan Bahtia. The company eventually said the company
had “no plans” to launch the search engine “right now,” before officially declaring the project
was terminated last week. Google is silent and did not make a public announcement regarding
the project but Google CEO made a discussion about it at a private meeting with the staff. “The
censorship required for Google and other tech companies make China a tricky market,” said
Navin Manglani, professor of technology for NYU Stern School of Business. In the US politician
they stated that Google search engine should remain out of China.
