 Baroque period is the period in art that was a result to counteract

the Protestant Reformation; its style is characterized by its
dramatic lighting and high emotionality.
 Many European cathedrals have Baroque features, high altars,
facades and chapels.
 The Baroque required broad, heavy and massive forms. The grace
and lightness of the Renaissance were gone; all forms become
broader and heavier
 Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Bernini, Velasquez and Rubens are the
representative artists during the Baroque Period.
