MECHANICAL PROPERTIES APPLICATIONS


• Annealed condition: heat to 825°C followed by slow cooling. • Gears.
- Brinell hardness: 207 • Shafts.
• Rack and pinions.
• Oil quench from 850°C. Temper at 200°C. • Journals.
(Properties beneath the carburised layer) • Various mechanical parts.
- UTS: 1300 N/mm2
- 0.2 % Yield strength: 1050 N/mm2
- Elongation (5d): 11 % CHARACTERISTICS
- Impact strength KCU: 80 J/cm2

• Good mechanical properties.


• Oil quench from 850°C. Temper at 575°C. • After carburising and hardening, surface
- UTS: 900 N/mm2 hardness is approximately 730 Vickers.
- 0.2 % Yield strength: 700 N/mm2
- Elongation (5d): 18 %
- Impact strength KCU: 120 J/cm2
