Mathematics plays a very crucial role in our daily lives.

It deals with problem which involve a

• Process of analysis
• Computation
• Other mental skills.

The significance of the study is to be an eye opener to everyone that Mathematics is just easy if you give time to work
and it can be your friend if you have a perseverance to learn.

Statistics are the method of conducting a study about a particular topic by collecting, organizing, interpreting, and finally
presenting data.

Probability is the study of random events. It is used in analyzing games of chance, genetics, weather prediction, and a myriad
of other everyday events.

Probability and statistics are closely linked because statistical data are frequently analyzed to see whether conclusions
can be drawn legitimately about a particular phenomenon and also to make predictions about future events.
Chapter I: STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Class Group A Group B Importance of Statistics and Probability is difficult to most of
students
Class 1 82 95
Applications of Statistics and Probability in our daily lives
Class 2 76 88
Appreciation on the Statistics and Probability methods, process and
Class 3 84 90 measurements

› Problems of the Senior High School students in line with Statistics and Probability
difficulties:

– students prefer to learn the shortcut method than to learn the step by step method
– not giving attention to the discussion
– lack of concentration
– Difficulties to understand maps and charts
– lack of understanding Mathematical vocabularies
– lack in mental strategies
– Not attentive on Mathematical subjects during classes
Chapter I: SCOPE & DELIMITATION
• Task 1 › Studying probability and statistics will allow you to see the different perspective since the
subject will give you knowledge that you can apply to our real life situation.

A • Task 2
› Research topic is all about Statistics and Probability so our target people is Senior High
School (Grade 11) in Sindalan High School. Statistics is about gaining information from
• Task 1 sets of data.

B • Task 2

› The researchers will be focus to the Grade 11 students of Sindalan High School were the
• Task 1 respondents are under the K-12 curriculum at their age of 16-18 years old.

C • Task 2
› The subject matter content was limited to discovering the hindrances of every Grade 11
student in the said topic. The researchers will get 10 respondents in the interview/survey.
Chapter I: SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
Statistics and Probability

 To know the hindrances and learning competencies of the Grade 11 students in Sindalan High School.

 To help the teachers to understand and to know the limitations and student skills

 To help the teachers to understand and to know the limitations and student skills

 To help and guide the future researchers to better understand the same study.
Chapter I: DEFINITION OF TERMS
› Crucial- extremely important.

› Hindrance- a person or thing that makes a situation difficult: a person or › Likelihood- the chance that something will happen.
thing that hinders someone or something.
› Intimate- to say or suggest (something) in an indirect way.
› Abstract- relating to or involving general ideas or qualities rather than
specific people, objects or actions. › Excel- to better than others, to be or do better than others.

› Innovative- introducing or using new ideas or methods. › Essential- extremely important.

› Subconsciously- existing in the part of the mind that a person is not aware of › Notion- an individual's conception or impression of something known,
existing in the mind but not consciously known or felt. experienced or imagined. Interconnected- mutually joined or related.

› Complicated- hard to understand explain or deal with having many parts or

steps. › Simulation- something that is made to look, feel, or behave like
something else especially so that it can be studied or used to train
› Sophisticated - having or showing a lot of experience and knowledge about people.
the world and about culture, art literature, etc.
› Inherent- belonging to the basic nature of someone or something.
› Preference - an advantage that is given to some people or things and not to Implication- a possible future effect or result.
others.
› Anonymity- the quality or state of being unknown to most people: the
› Linked- having or provided with links. quality or state of being anonymous.

› Legitimately- allowed according to rules, real, accepted or official.

› Phenomenon- something (such as an interesting factor event) that can be

observed and studied and that typically is unusual or difficult to understand
or explain fully.

› Predictions- a statement about what will happen or might happen in the

future.

› Sensible- having or showing good sense or judgement.

Chapter II: REVIEW RELATED LITERATURES

Henry and Paryzsz (2011) provided perspectives on the use of computer simulations for linking the frequentist and
the classical approaches to probability given the emphasis or teaching both in French High Schools

Benzvi, Makar, Bakker and Aridor (2011) brought out the notion of probability withinin informal statistical inference.

Stigler (1986) According to his idea that the nature of probability and statistics has a lot of branches and sub-topic
that they need to learn and understand

Nilsson and Pratt (2003) Brought out the importance of providing students with an experimental situation and
computer tools that can help them experience the dual notion of probability.
Research Design
