Recommended prerequisites
Basic knowledge of simulation and physical modeling is desirable.
Knowledge
Familiar with multi-discipline systems modeling and simulation tool
Recognize the importance of building modeling tools in reality and applications
Familiar with dynamic model, state-space model and initial conditions
Find how ordinary differential conditions can present the dynamic of the system
Familiar with building energy systems and their role in building energy consumption
Skills
Work with modeling tools for building energy simulation and prediction
Simulate the model with different initial conditions and parameters
Do post processing and plotting and document modeling work in report form
Competences
Identify a relevant model of a given systems
Apply relevant library components to a given subject
Assess, select and apply methods, tools and competencies within the subject areas
Communicate in a clear and understandable manner in written reports
Document the solution to a modelling and simulation problem
Content
Concepts of physical modeling of buildings and their energy consumption
Basic mathematical aspects of dynamic systems.
Basic introduction to modeling tools.
Demonstration of modeling examples from a range of energy application areas.

Oral exam on group project assessed by teacher as pass/fail.
Examination conditions:
