Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) Renal Center Building Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center was alarmed due to more kidney patients that are
seeking for medical treatment who are not only from the city of Baguio but also from the different parts
of Northern Luzon.
Renal is a term that’s concern or in the kidneys. When our kidney is damaged, we will no longer able
to remove wastes and excess fluid efficiently from our bloodstream and with that dialysis is the only
way that helps us to feel the relief from the pain that will be suffer. The main purpose of dialysis is to
help impaired renal function. But we cannot do that without enough machines and enough space.
There are only 30-machine centers that is operating in the hospital, that became the problem of the said
hospital because they cannot all accommodate the patients, that causes the patients to forcibly seek a
dialysis treatment to the private centers in the city.
Therefore, the Department of Health is planning to have an expansion to the Baguio General Hospital
and Medical Center by adding additional building which is the Renal Center Building and expanding
the facility into a 100-machine center that will accommodate more kidney patients.
Renal Center Building will be the dialysis center of Northern Luzon that will specialize in the
prevention, diagnosis, rehabilitation and treatment of kidney and allied disease through dialysis and
transplantation.

PROJECT LOCATION:
The project will be in Benguet, Baguio. Baguio is considered as the summer capital of the Philippines.
It is best location for the said project since there is an existing hospital which is the (BGHMC) the it is
already well known for their good services and of course for the competitive price, a big factor also
because they are the only public hospital of Northern Luzon that makes them as a dialysis center.

PROJECT CLIENT AND BUDGET:

Megawide Construction Corporation will be funding the proposed Renal Center Building that is around
₱5 billion. The company is an active proponent in the government’s infrastructure programs, in fact
they completed and is in the process of pursuing several projects including The Philippine School for
infrastructure Project Phase 1; Southwest Integrated Transport System; and the construction of Terminal
2 of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

TARGET USERS:
The users are mostly for the people who can’t afford the private hospital within the area, also it only
not caters the city of Baguio but also, it’ll be for the nearby provinces of Ilocos Region and Cagayan
Valley.
