PROJECT REPORT GUIDELINES

The common guidelines for the report shall be as follows:


1. Text should be in clear enough to read and correct english with 1.5 to 2 line spacing and using
Time New Roman. Use 12-font size throughout text except title of chapter.
2. Title of chapter, capital bold, 14 font size.
3. First heading capital Bold
4. Second heading bold sentence case and first alphabet capital followed by sentence case bold
for subsequent heading.
5. Caption/title for figure should be given at the bottom of figure and should be numbered as fig.
3.2, the number indicating chapter no. and 2 indicating second figure of that chapter.
6. Caption/title of table should be given at the top of the table in normal sentence case. The title
should be like table 2.1 where first digit 2 shall indicate chapter no. While next digit indicates
table of that chapter.
7. While indicating table or figure within the text, mention of table or figure should appear in the
text first followed by table or figure.
8. Every chapter after 2 should have strong relevance with each other.
9. Every chapter should be introduced and should be concluded (not compulsorily/literally)

Acknowledgement - please keep this brief and resist the temptation of writing flowery prose. Do

include all those who helped you, e.g. other faculty / staff you consulted, colleagues who assisted etc.
Chapter1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction: introduction to area to which topic is related.
1.2 Brief description/principle/concept/working of the topic.
1.3 Scope of the work: what is the present status in brief? What are shortcomings? How can they
be removed? What you want to do? How and what is expected outcome?
1.4 Organization of report. Briefly state the contents of chapter 2,3,4 etc.

Chapter2: PRESENT STATUS/STATE OF ART/LITERATURE REVIEW


2.1 Introduction: Briefly describe the sources from where you got literature broad classification of
literature.
2.2. Entire information/literature research results available may be divided in 3-4.
2.3 Categories/sections are to be presented here.
2.4. Concluding remarks: This part should match with section 1.3 in different words. This parts
describes the shortcomings in existing status and below that write how they can be removed.

Chapter3: This chapter onwards is your work which may be your own design, own program,
software, experimental setup and experimentation and observations etc.
3.1 Introduction
3.2 Divide first part of your work by taking 2-3 suitable headings
3.3 ----(include this if required only)
3.4 ----(include this if required only)
3.5 Comments: Here you have to be conclude the first part of your work and mentioned what is in
next chapter.

Chapter 4: This is second part of your work which shall be an extension of your work with
suitable heading. It may contain 4-5 sub sections with introduction and remarks at the end.

Chapter 5: It may be results, analysis, discussion etc with calculations and presentation in the
form of figures, tables, graphs, computer program output etc. It can be presented in 4-5
subsections.

Chapter 6- Conclusions
6.1 Introduction: It describes aims and objectives of your work.
6.2 Conclusion: It is quantitative presentation of your results with the mention of precision,
accuracy and applicability.
6.3 Future scope: It includes any further improvement, expansions etc.
