[Endure Temptation\

This is a study on temptation. How are we tempted and why?

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is
tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the LORD hath promised to
them that love him.

He that ‘endureth’ temptation shall receive a crown of life, what a great

promise. Temptation is how we are tried. Resisting temptation is our faith at
work.

1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of
gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise
and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

The trial of one’s faith is more precious than gold, it is tried by fire like gold.

James 1:3-4 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing.

Having our faith tried works patience, and patience completed makes us
perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Then handling tribulations is easier. Life
is full of troubles, temptations but the words of the LORD help us overcome
bad with good.

John 16:33 These things I (Jesus) have spoken unto you, that in me ye might
have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I
have overcome the world.

The words the LORD spoke gives us peace, which make a great buffer from
the temptations and tribulations of life.

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which
is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Think it not strange when you have tribulation.

Jesus said..

Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will
keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world,
to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Our next scripture coincides with the previous scripture, it’s a wonderful
promise to those who resist temptation.

Isaiah 57:1-2 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and
merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken
away from the evil to come.
2 He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking
in his uprightness.

Walking in one’s ‘uprightness’ is enduring temptation and tribulation.

The LORDS prayer says.

Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For
thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit
indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Watch and pray. Prayer demonstrates reliance on the LORD.

2 Peter 2:9 The LORD knoweth how to deliver the godly out of
temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be
punished:

1 Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and
into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and
perdition.

James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for
God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

God does not tempt people! What is the source of our temptation?
Jesus explained the source of our temptations.

Mark 7:14-23 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto
them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile
him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the
man.
16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples
asked him concerning the parable.
18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye
not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it
cannot defile him;
19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out
into the draught, purging all meats?
20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye,
blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

All our temptations come from within. Matters of the hearts. ‘For from
within, out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts’, (or their
temptations). ‘All these evil things come from within, and defile the man’.

James 1:14-15 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his
own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is
finished, bringeth forth death.

1 Corinthians 10:12-13 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take

heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but
God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able
to bear it.

All of our temptations are common, God won’t allow us to be tempted above
that which we are able to withstand. He always makes a way of escape.
Psalms 32:1-2 <<A Psalm of David, Maschil.>> Blessed is he whose
transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in
whose spirit there is no guile.

Romans 4:7-8 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and
whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the LORD will not impute sin.

Psalms 106:3 Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth
righteousness at all times.

Psalms 119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him
with the whole heart.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they
may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the
city.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is
tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the LORD hath promised to
them that love him.

Enduring temptation and tribulation make one blessed. Amen!
