To beat, or
Your task: not to beat.
Using the evidence you have collected while reading
Shakespeare’s play The Merchant of Venice, you will be
stepping inside the mind of your chosen character to create
a music playlist. You will be required to choose 5-7 songs
that represent your chosen character. You will provide the
song title, artist, a link to the song lyrics and significant
lyrics that connect to your character. Profanity is not
essential to the task and therefore you are required to black
out any swears. Each item must be supported by a brief
rationale (approximately 4-6 thoughtful and complete
sentences each) that includes two specific details from the
play. Finally, in a paragraph, address the question “how plausible is this character?” Now that
you have collected evidence to support your character’s traits, consider if, or to what
extent, your character is ‘life-like’, or too good/bad to be true. When discussing your
character’s plausibility, mention the archetypes we discussed in class.
A referencing reminder:
Please use the following format when referencing specific details (direct quotes OR
paraphrased ideas) from the play: (Act.Scene.Line #).
