I. Objectives
Content Standards: The learner shows understanding of the materials and techniques.
Performance Standards: The learner discriminates among various materials and techniques.
Learning Competencies: The learner justifies the use of materials and the application of techniques.
Specific Learning Objective
1. Identify the different literary techniques used by the contemporary Filipino writers.
2. Analyze the literary techniques used by the famous contemporary Filipino writers with their works.
3. Realize the importance of these techniques in Philippine literature.

The students will give a brief overview about the idea of the course.
1. Give the techniques used in cinema or movie.
 Motivation
1. Have you read the “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Fili Busterismo” by Dr. Jose Rizal?
2. How do you feel about the two novels? Why?

B. Developmental Activities
A. Activity

1. The students will be group by five.
2. Each group will be given examples of famous contemporary Filipino writers with their
literary works.
3. The students will identify the techniques used in the literary works of famous
contemporary Filipino writers.

B. Analysis
1. What language did contemporary Filipino writers used in their works?
2. Did the writers expressed and conveyed their thoughts or message in the literary works
effectively?
3. How the writers arranged the words and thoughts to evoke feelings he/she wants to
express?
C. Abstraction
1. Discussion of the topic.
 Social Realism, Magic Realism and Unconventional Writers
2. At the end of the discussion, the students will be asked about their learnings on the
discussion.
 Ask the students about the importance of using different techniques in writing a
literary work.

D. Application
The students will write their own literary work (poem or short story) using the literary
techniques (social realism, magic realism, unconventional syntax).

V. Assessment
Five item quiz about the literary techniques of contemporary Filipino writers.

VI. Assignment
Research the different techniques and materials used in artworks and art productions.
