Call for INYAS Members (2020-2024)

The Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS) is pleased to invite nominations for new members for
the term 2020-2024. INYAS was founded by INSA in 2015, with 20 founding members selected from among
INSA Young Scientist awardees. The current membership strength of INYAS is 96, with representation from
various disciplines of Science and Engineering. The Core Committee of INYAS calls for applications for
membership for the year 2020. A maximum of 20 new members will be selected, who will remain members of
INYAS for next five years.
INYAS is a platform that enables young scientists to interact, and work towards spreading a passion for science
among school children. INYAS is recognized as the voice of young scientists of India by the Global Young
Academy, and actively participates in various international events that invite participation by young
scientists. INYAS hopes to work towards building a generation of Indians who practice science as a way of life.

Applications are invited from young, independent researchers working in any areas of Science and Engineering
who have proven track record of excellence in their respective research area along with a demonstrated passion of
Science outreach, promotion, communication and leadership.
Applicants should:
1. Hold of PhD degree in any discipline of pure and applied Sciences and Engineering OR M.S./M.D. in
Medical sciences and be less than 40 years of age as on 31st December 2019 (One year age relaxation for
women candidates who give adequate justification).
2. Be a citizen of India, working in an academic/research position in India.
3. Provide Two Letters of support to qualify a valid application. The letters can be provided by
(i) Fellows of any Indian Academy of Science/ Engineering
(ii) Directors/ Heads of institutes (present employer)
(iii) Heads/ Chairpersons of Departments in Universities (present employer)

Expectations:
 Each INYAS member is expected to attend the Annual General Meeting of INYAS each year and is also
expected to actively contribute to one or more of the INYAS activities and also plan new activities for the
promotion of Science and INYAS as well. Failing to attend two Annual General Meetings of INYAS
consecutively may result in termination of your membership.
 For details, please refer the code of conduct guidelines for INYAS members. Further it is expected from
an INYAS member to publish at least one research article in any recognized Indian journal during INYAS
membership tenure.
 Being a Member of INYAS, a minimum time commitment is somewhat expected from a member time to
time.
 New members should be available to attend the next Annual General Meeting, which will be scheduled in
third week of February next year at INSA, New Delhi.
