Materials that Absorb Water

Content Standard:
The learners demonstrate understanding of grouping different materials based on their
properties.

Performance Standard:
The learners should be able to recognize and practice proper handling of products.

sink and undergo decay.

Okay class, may we all stand for a prayer. Sam,


kindly lead the prayer.

Before we proceed on our topic for today. Let ( Checking the attendance )

liquid or gas.
Base on the pictures I’ve showed you what is Ma’am, solid are the ones that are firm and
the difference between solid, liquid, and gas? has three dimensions, while liquid is substance
that flows freely and lastly, gas are the ones
with no exact shape and no exact volume.

Our lesson for today is about materials that
absorb water.

presentation about the content of our lesson.

2. During the Lesson


B.3 Explore

Okay, I have here a piece of paper and a ( the students will do some experimentation)
bottled water. I will soak the paper into the
water. I will be going to group you into four.
Then, you will be going to tell me your group
observation on the experiment we will be
going to conduct.

B.4 Explain

Let’s find what are your observations on the


experiment.
Let us hear from the first group.

What was the characteristic of the material The material was round, thick and soft. It

As we soak the paper in to the water the paper


loses its hydrogen bonds holding the cellulous
fibers that causes it to break down. This is
because water molecules consist of oxygen
and hydrogen atoms, which form hydrogen
bonds with cellulose fibers, thus weakening
their own hydrogen bonds in the process.

pass through.

3. After the Lesson

Some of the materials absorb water more than


others. Cotton is very porous, which makes it
a natural absorber of water.

Porous material are materials having small


holes that allow air or liquid to pass through.

Describe the following materials based on the

one whole sheet of pad paper )

B.7 Extend

Go around the classroom. Collect at least 5


materials and test them as to whether or not
the materials absorb water.
V. Remarks:
The lesson was successfully delivered as planned. The new lesson will be
taught next meeting.

VI. Reflection:
The students are cooperating during the discussion and it made lesson easier
to teach. The topic I have prepared was successfully delivered on time.
Closure:
We never know the worth of water till the well is dry.
