It placed in the middle of Gangnam which widely known for its heavily concentrated wealth and very high standard of living. There is no address or registered house. so, 1,850 houses, 4,122 people have the same one address. It manages by control number. There are only 28 houses that are registered as a house. Most people moved to Guryong Village during 1988, before Seoul Olympic start. Korea developed an economy really short period of time. The government forced to demolish some areas of Seoul for better looking and development during the Olympics. So, people who lost their house and shelter, moved to Guryong village since it was an empty lot. In 1994, more people moved to Guryong village due to the development of Gangnam. When they started to build Tower palace and Apartment. I. Introduction a. Issues and Concerns Security and safety The whole place is made by the wood board, and not following the building code. And since it was not registered as a residence, there were problems with the sanitary system, electricity, and Trash. The oldest house was built in 1925 and most of the houses built with the wood board so it's cold during wintertime. During summer since the village is placed in the middle of two mountains so it's hotter than other places and it easily flooded due to the sanitary system. there was two big fire in 2014 and 2017. 2014, there were over 150 people who lost their house and since it happened November, they had to worry about surviving during winter.

Address The government didn’t allow to register as the residence for the people who live here. In Korea, it's important with address, it restricts social activities such as a bank(economy), employment, voting and Mailing form organization. Redevelopment In 2011, Seoul city tried to redevelop this area, but there was a problem with speculators. Since its still part of Gangnam, the rich people tried to buy the land before it developed. And the resident helped the government to find the speculator. But still, some people drive an expensive car but live in Guryong village for profit. In 2014, after the big fire, they decided to redevelop the area. But still, there was an argument with compensation. In 2018, the government announced the plan of redevelopment and project expectancy was finish the construction in 2020, but still, there is a resident and couldn’t start the construction. b. Goal and Objective Provide a safe, habitable shelter and give equality to the neighborhood. c. Rationale Residents in Guryong village experienced discrimination and inequality. Since the village is middle of High standard district, there were issues with it. Kids going to school with the high standard district kids, so they been experienced bullying. The government treats them as an interrupter of the high standard society, but the government was the one who brought them there for their convenience. d. Proponents The government should be their proponents. They tried to develop the city in a short period of time, and this is the result of what they did. It should be fixed by them.
