CHAPTER 1

GRADE 11 HES STUDENTS OF RICHWELL COLLEGE
INTRODUCTION

Internet has been one of the great contributions of the modern world to the daily living of
the people. Aside from making the lives of the many easier than usual, it also became a way to bring
connection to those who are far away from each other. One of the most recognized product of internet
is “Facebook” , which was introduced by Mark Zuckerberg in 2006. Facebook is a social networking
service launched as FaceMash in July 2003, but later changing to TheFacebook on February 4, 2004. It
was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommate and fellow Harvard University student
Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.

Facebook has also became a great help especially for students who are going to
communicate with their classmates, submitting files online, and launching surveys and polls for the
purpose of a project. Teachers can utilize Facebook for class projects, for enhancing
communication, and for engaging students in a manner that might not be entirely possible in
traditional classroom settings. However, instead of giving help or aid, it became distractive to the
students that they spend too much time browsing the net instead of doing other household our
school chores.

This research aims to determine the impact or the negative effects of using too much
Facebook, and its effects to the sleeping habits of the Grade-11 HES students of Richwell Colleges
Inc. the researchers sought to know the factors why the students use facebook and what cause
them in spending too much time using it.

Also, this study is delimited to its setting since it was conducted in Richwell Colleges Inc.

Plaridel, Bulacan. The researchers chose Richwell Colleges to be the setting of this research

because it is the nearest and most accessible place for them to get their respondents which are

the Grade-11 pupils. Richwell Colleges is the most suited place to conduct this study and it is
also the recommended place to undergo a study like this. In addition, the subject area covered

is also included wherein this study focuses only on the students of this institution. Another
