Faith –A central reality in Filipino life. It
is an everyday “natural” factor in all our
human relationships and daily actions;

God in the person of Jesus Christ; Our

just one act but along process of
growing intimacy with our friend; Acts
as a guide that we are invited to follow
because it will ultimately lead us to God
Believing –Faith is knowing, but not
mere “head knowledge” of some
abstract truths.
Trusting –Faith is entrusting oneself
into God’s hands. Faith, then, is from
the heart-the loving, trusting and
hoping in the Lord that comes from
God’s own love flooding our hearts. This
trusting faith “lives and grows through
prayer and worship” –personal heartfelt
conversation with God
Doing –A commitment to follow (obey)
God’s will for us. It is about loving
others and doing what is good, right
and true

Star of Faith –It is the star of
Bethlehem, which led the three magi to
the infant Jesus
Spirit of Faith –Flows from a
relationship of communion with the
Triune God who wills to save all people
by drawing them into a life-giving
The spirit of faith is a spirit that allows
one to:
 Discover God’s active presence
in his Word, in men and
women, in the poor, in nature,
in history, and in ourselves
 Judge and evaluate things in the
light of the gospel
 Search for God’s will in order to
carry out his saving plan
 Unite one’s actions to the
ongoing saving action of God in
the world
 Trust in God’s loving presence
and providence when acting or
discerning God’s will

Corporal Works of mercy:
 To feed the hungry
 Give drink to the thirsty
 Clothe the naked
 Shelter the homeless
 Visit the sick and the imprisoned

Spiritual Works of Mercy:
 To instruct the ignorant
 To counsel the doubtful
 Comfort the sorrowful
 Admonish the sinner
 Bear wrongs patiently
 Forgive all injuries
  Pray for the living and the dead
Zeal –The active expression of faith in
gospel witness and service. It is oriented
towards the integral salvation of
persons, particularly the poor and the
excluded; The enthusiastic and total gift
of self for the sake of the mission
expressed in such qualities as gratuity
and generosity, creativity and fortitude,
compassion and commitment
Zeal for Service –It involves a
preferential concern for the poor and
the vulnerable; The desire to be of
greater service to others conditions the
quest for excellence and continuous
self-improvement
Ekklesia –The Greek word for church;
Those who are called forth. All of us
who are baptized and believe in God are
called forth by the Lord. Together, we
are the Church. Christ is the Head of the
Church. We are his body
Kirche –Derived from the Greek word,
Kyriake which means what belongs to
the Lord
Church –A community of men and
women who, united in Christ and
guided by the Holy Spirit, press onwards
towards the kingdom of the Father and
are bearers of a message of salvation
intended for all men; The place where
we can develop in God’s love; It is not
an end in herself
Prayer –A dialogue with God; It is all
about communicating with God and
spending quality time with God. We say
to God what’s in our hearts and we
listen to God too; Turning the heart
toward God. When a person prays, he
enters into a living relationship with
God
