El artículo "The" se usa para referirse a algo especifico, o cuando sabemos de antemano
a lo que nos referimos.
He is the mayor.
Él es el alcalde. (Es único. No hay otro en este pueblo.)
El artículo "A/An" se usa para referirse a algo no especifico o no conocido por el oyente:
I have a pencil.
Tengo un lápiz.
It is a book.
Es un libro.
That is a house.
Esa es una casa.
He is a doctor.
Él es medico.
It is an aeroplane.
Es un avión.
This is an e-mail.
Esto es un correo electrónico.
Los artículos indefinidos que se usan con sustantivos plurales son "some" y"any"
(algún/a/o/as/os):
Artículo "cero"
El artículo "cero" es cuando no se usa ningún artículo. Por ejemplo, cuando se refiere a
algo en general, se omite el artículo:
I like dogs.
Me gustan (los) perros. (los perros en general)
Life is beautiful.
La vida es bella. (la vida en general)
Interrogative pronouns
Los pronombres interrogativos (y adjetivos / adverbios interrogativos) suelen ir al
principio de una pregunta. Cada uno se refiere a algo diferente:
What is this?
What - se refiere a cosas / objetos
¿Qué es esto?
Where is the chair?
Where - se refiere a lugares
¿Dónde está la silla?
When is the party?
When - se refiere al tiempo
¿Cuándo es la fiesta?
How do you say that?
How - se refiere a la manera / al grado
¿Cómo se dice eso?
Who is she?
Who - se refiere a personas
¿Quién es ella?
Why are you there?
Why - se refiere a la causa de o la razón por algo
¿Porqué estás ahí?
Which chair do you want?
Which - se refiere a personas u objetos de cantidad limitada
¿Cuál de las silla quieres?
Whose is this?
Whose - se refiere a la posesión
¿De quién es esto?
Demonstrative pronouns
Los demostrativos "this", "that", "these" and "those" se utilizan como determinantes o
pronombres. Se refieren a personas / cosas:
Se utiliza "this" y "these" cuando la persona / cosa está cerca del hablante:
This (singular)
This is my sister.
Ésta es mi hermana.
These (plural)
That (singular)
Those (plural)
Plural nouns
cat - cats
gato - gatos
Para los sustantivos que acaban en ch, sh, ss o x, se suele añadir es:
church - churches
iglesia - iglesias
bush - bushes
arbusto - arbustos
kiss - kisses
beso - besos
box - boxes
cajón - cajones
potato - potatoes
patata - patatas
Pero la mayoría de los sustantivos que acaban en o solo se añade una s:
kilo - kilos
kilo - kilos
baby - babies
bebé - bebés
hoof - hooves
pezuña - pezuñas
knife - knives
cuchillo - cuchillos

crisis - crises
crisis - crisis

En oraciones negativas, la partícula "not" suele acompañar los verbos. Lo mismo ocurre
con el verbo "to be" (ser / estar), excepto que el "not" se pone después del verbo, y no
antes. Compara:
I am not American.
No soy americano.
Se pueden combinar el sujeto y "to be", o "to be" y "not" para crear las formas cortas:

you we / they are not you're / we're /they're not you / we / they aren't

Forma interrogativa
Para hacer la forma interrogativa del verbo "to be", invertimos el orden de sujeto y verbo.

No, it isn't.
No, no lo es. (respuesta corta)

El presente simple se usa para hablar de cosas que se hacen habitualmente, situaciones
permanentes, o verdades universales. La mayoría de los verbos en el presente simple se
basan en el infinitivo sin "to":

nosotros comemos

Los verbos en el presente simple sólo cambian en la tercera persona singular añadiendo,

Prepositions of movement
Las palabras cortas como up, down, past, under, etc. pueden ser o preposiciones o una
partículas adverbiales:
Estas palabras suelen modificar el verbo o el complemento de la frase. Por ejemplo, con
"to go" (ir), pueden expresar distintas maneras de movimiento:
