LESSON PLAN – ARTS

Grade 8 – Narra/Yakal
(September 23, 2019)

I – OBJECTIVES
At the end of this lesson, the students should be able to:
 Analyzed the elements (color, line, shape etc.) in the production of art in China;
 Reflect on and derived the mood, idea or message emanating from the paintings of China;
and
 Create an artwork (Jingju Lianpu) by painting on the mask.
II – SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic: East Asian Arts: Peking Opera face painting / Jingju Lianpu

C. Instructional Materials:
 Cartolina
 Marker
 Construction papers
 Face mask
 Paint colors/ Acrylic paint
 Paint brush
 Pictures (sample of face painting)

III – PROCEDURE
A. ACTIVITY
i.) Daily routine
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Arranging of chairs
ii.) Review
 Call a volunteer to recapitulate about their previous lesson.
iii.) Motivation
 The students are asked to close their eyes and let them imagine the surrounding with
and without colors.

B. ANALYSIS
 Let them open their eyes and they will answer the following questions:
1. What can you say about the surrounding without colors? How about with colors?
2. Are colors important? Why?
3. Did you know that every colors had meaning?
4. Did you know that in China they applied paint colors on their face?
5. What do you think the name of that artwork?
C. ABSTRACTION
 Let the students share and give ideas about face painting.
 They will identify the different colors in face painting or Jingju Lianpu:
 Guan Ju
 Huang Pang
 Zhu Wen
 Zhang Fei
 Lian Po
 Cao Cao
 Jiang Gan

D. APPLICATION
 The class is divided into (6) group. The students are asked to create an artwork
(Jingju Lianpu) by painting on the mask.
 Each group will prepare face masks, paint color/acrylic paint and paint brush. They
will work as a group.
 They should also present and explain their face mask.
 They will be given 25 minutes to do the activity.
 Their output will be assessed using the following criteria:

 Quality of craftsmanship - 10
 Visual impact / Creativity - 10
 Neatness -5
 Workmanship -5
