“Behold old things have passed away and all things are new” and “if any man is in Christ he is a
new creature.”
But my question is what should change? What should be transformed when we come into a
relationship with Christ?
The reason I ask that question is because the truth is I don’t see that much change in people who
claim to have met Christ. They still act the same, behave the same, react the same, attitudes
remain the same, desire remain the same, goals remain the same. So what is supposed to change?
We all need the mind of our Master, Jesus. To be Christlike, we all need the mind of Jesus! To be
like Him we need His mind and His Spirit and this will only happen when we set our mind on His
Word.
According to:
Proverbs 23;7
Sa relasyon kay Lord, he opened my eyes to the fact that though I was a victim of neglect,
rejection and abuso , di ko kailangan yakapin ang mga iyon bilang identity ko instead pde akong
magbago…..
Let go of the victim mentality and identity and let God help you dump those negative thoughts
about the past.
“You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts
take you.” – James Allen
Narinig o minsan nyo na ding nasabi na “Di ko pa alam kung anong will ni God sa buhay ko.”
I recognize that the more we grow in our walk with the Lord the more His will is crystallized to us.
“As a man think in his heart, so is he.”
So if we are meditating on the promises of God, reading Godly materials and filling our mind with
praise and worship these tools are literally helping to shape and change your thought patterns from
negativity to a more positive outlook on life.
According to Strong’s Concordance the Greek word renew is - (Strong’s 342 - anakainósis - (from
303 /aná, "up, completing a process," which intensifies kainō, "make fresh, new"; see 2537 /kainós)
– properly, a new development; a renewal, achieved by God's power.” When we meditate on God’s
words and promises it has the power to literally change the way we think. The truth about this life
is if you are not meditating on God’s word as your source for building your life then your mind is
filled with something else and whatever you think the most about will dictate the outcome for your
life.
When we conform to the world system of doing things, we will reap the products of that life. For
example, the world tells us we must love those who love us and hate those who hate us. If we
adapt to this pattern, then our lives would be filled with hatred, anger, unforgiveness, bitterness,
and lack of joy. However, as we renew our minds with the word of God that says, “Bless those that
persecute you and spitefully use you because yours will be the kingdom of God.” This creates a
new thinking pattern that releases us from a burden of hate to peace, and that helps us to stay
connected to God, and suddenly, you realize that God’s will for you is not to be angry all the time,
God’s will for you is to be at peace, God’s will is for you to inherit His kingdom. Dr. Caroline Leaf
says this in her book Switch On Your Brain, “As we think, we change the physical nature of our
brain.
As we consciously direct our thinking, we can wire out toxic patterns of thinking and replace them
with healthy thoughts.” Renewing our minds daily with the word of God is imperative if we want to
become healthy and bring change to the world.
As we meditate on God’s words and promises it has the power to literally change the way we think.
Whatever we think the most about will dictate the outcome of our life.
“if we realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought.” Peace
Pilgrim.
N – Nourished by God’s Word
21I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22For I delight in
the law of God according to the inward man
Romans 7:21-22
Apostle Paul is writing about the inner struggle we all face in life—the struggle of having a desire to
do the things we don’t want to do yet finding it hard to do the things we know are right. A constant
battle rages between the flesh and the spirit. Our born again spirit desires to commune with God,
to pray, to praise and worship but our desires and appetites are constantly bombarded by images
on TV, movies and social media. We have information coming at us from every side and we literally
must fight to get quiet times. The spirit man in us has to be fed spiritual food which comes through
worship, prayer praise and reading our Bibles or other Christian materials in our quiet times.
However the enemy of our souls knows that he cannot touch our spirit because the Holy Spirit lives
there, instead, he tries to appeal to our natural senses. He draws us by making things look, sound,
feel, taste and smell nice so we can be drawn away from the reality of what is important and that
is our relationship with God.
If we feed the spirit with the word, praise, worship and prayer we can develop thoughts, desires,
actions and fruit for the kingdom. However, if we feed the flesh with movies, music, images, books
and even friends contrary to the word of God we are setting ourselves up for sin and eventually
death both spiritually and physically.
Our thought life is powerful and precious and whatever we allow to dominate and stay in our mind
will also bring forth actions and fruit be it life or death. Let us take time every day to feed our
spirit in God’s word.
You are what you eat. You are what you think.
Many if not all of us would like change to come to our lives, but if we are honest, we would prefer
change to happen with a quick fix. However, some issues in our lives can be deep-rooted from
years of a flawed belief pattern and the only way change could come is to first change our thought
pattern.
PRODIGAL SON
We can agree that the lowest state to be in when pig’s food looks appealing. However, in this
tragic state something amazing happens that would change this young man’s life forever. He had
time to ponder, think and mediate on the gracious father he had and the abundance made
available to even the servants that worked for his father. After having a change of mind, he
changed his life.
Today you may be in a low place, but the truth is just like the prodigal son you are only one
thought away from changing your life!
“The world we have created is a product of our thinking; it cannot be changed without changing
our thinking.”
Conclusion:
The story has been told of a mental hospital that many years ago devised an unusual test to
determine when their patients were ready to go back into the world. They brought a candidate for
release to a room where a water faucet was left on so that the sink overflowed and was pouring
water all over the floor. Then they handed the patient a mop and told him to mop up the water. If
the patient had enough sense to turn off the faucet before mopping up the water, he was ready to
be released. But if, as in the case of many, the patient started mopping while the water was still
flowing, they kept the patient for more treatment.
As Christians, all of us face the world in which we live and are confronted with the need to do
battle with the evil that dominates it. But, like the patients in the mental hospital, until we realize
where the source of that evil is, we will make no real contribution. To see less evil in the world
means that we must conquer the evil that is pouring forth from our own heart. That is conversion.
Then, to deal with the evil around us, we need a “mop and bucket,” the spiritual armor that God
has provided for us.
