RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research Design

The research study used Descriptive Quantitative research that would

describe and identify the common effects of having a biphasic sleeping pattern.

The researchers used survey questionnaires to gather data that would be

computed and tallied. Purposive sampling was used.

Research Respondents

The respondents of the study were the Grade 12 Afternoon session

students. The respondents were chosen based from the results of the conducted

pre-survey and was far from personal bias of the researchers.Pre-survey was

conducted to determine students that had a biphasic sleeping pattern.

Research Environment

The study was conducted in the vicinity of Asian Learning Center Pajo

Campus located in Opon-Airport-Sangi Rd., Lapu-Lapu City, 6015, Cebu. Asian

Learning Center Pajo Campus was established on the year 1995 where it

accommodates only kindergarten and grade levels.Year 2016 when they

renovated the Pajo building and added the senior high level. Asian Learning

Center has four branches, the Main building located in Poblacion where it

accommodates kindergarten and grade 11 Humanities and Social Science, both

FINDINGS,CONCLUSION,RECOMMENDATIONS AND OUTPUT

Findings

Based on the conducted pre-survey only 80 students in grade 12 afternoon

session are biphasic and are practicing biphasic sleeping pattern. From the

identified effects, the one with the highest weighted mean and the most common

effect is the “increase alertness” with the weighted mean of 2.24. Based on the

conducted survey most of the 80 respondents are affected by the biphasic

sleeping pattern. As a result a video awareness will be proposed, containing

information’s and discussions which shows the possible effects of having a

biphasic sleeping pattern and other information’s about it.

Conclusion

A lot of researchers over the past years had found that having a biphasic

sleeping

pattern could affect the individuals. Upon knowing the results of the survey,

therefore, having a biphasic sleeping pattern could affect individuals, specifically

to the students who practices biphasic. The three common effects are increase

alertness, boost energy and mood and reduce daytime sleepiness. Increase

alertness got the highest total of weighted mean obtaining an 11.18. The

researchers concluded that sleeping twice a day could help in increasing the

alertness of individuals.

Output
This study aims to raise awareness and informed others about the effects of

having a biphasic sleeping pattern. This will show the effects of biphasic sleeping

pattern and other relevant information’s about it.

For the first part, a discussion will be shown. One of the members will discussed

and explain first what is biphasic sleeping pattern, so that the audiences could

also have a little information about it. After discussing, one of the member will

also discuss and explain the effects of biphasic sleeping pattern such as increase

alertness, reduce daytime sleepiness and boosts energy and mood.

The second part will contains the do’s and don’ts of having a biphasic sleeping

pattern presented by Mayo Clinic. The do’s are when you nap, keep it shorter

than 30 minutes or as close to 90 minutes as possible to avoid excessive sleep

inertia. Take naps in early afternoon and make it short and sweet while the

dont’s are nap within 3 hours of bedtime, as this may make it difficult to fall

asleep at night.Don’t pull all nighters as sleep is essential in retaining

information, don’t take a nap on evening and many more.

The third part will be the discussion and explanation if biphasic is a good pattern

to practice or not.
