Philippines is an archipelago where we live with different dialects, intonations, words and

understanding. With the use of technological advancements in the country, more and more Filipinos today

have hard time using Filipino language in oral and written communication because the language seems

impractical to use in discussions in pertaining to modern education and lifestyle. But many of the

Filipinos think that English language is more significant to learn than to our language. But with that

number of people who thinks that Filipino can’t reshape and influence others, I don’t consider myself

belong.

According to June Jordan, “You will never tech a child a new language by scoring, ridiculing

and forcibly erasing his first language.” At the beginning of everything, Filipino language instruction is

very important not only to develop a strong education’s foundation but also to strengthen the cognitive

development of learners. It can reshape student’s involving confidence, self-esteem and identity for it is

the students’ first language. It helps students to influence others as they develop their personalities as well

as their intellects. Filipino allow children to express their full range of knowledge and experiences and to

demonstrate their experiences.

English on the other side, plays an important role in our lives. In these days, there is no other

language used in businesses, political or personal transactions than English language. In the recent

discussion organized by the British council, Philippines is doing fine in terms of English competency.

Speaking in English allows us to broaden our world. From job opportunities, to thee ability to relate to

people from every country. When you know how to speak in English, anywhere you want to go in the

world, you can communicate. For everywhere, you can find someone who speaks English. Simply

because, English is recognized as the international language, the main language of this planet. And we

need this to stay relevant and to better understand our fellowmen around the world. The latest world news

and discoveries and various arts like books, movies, and music are usually in English medium. The

language of technology is also in English medium. Communication skills are very important in the part

that it gives the ability to express one’s spoken or written form to exchange information, ideas, feelings

and thought and internationally, we are using English.

Imagine living in a nation that don't know how to use English Language.But here in the world,

we all know that many people are unable to use English because they don't have the knowledge and the

confidence to speak. But it's not the reason for the elites and the ones who were able to utilize the

language to feel that we have the power to the non-elites or to those diverse and powerless to use

English language.
