Grammar Part #1

1. Common Noun:- A common noun is a word that names common people, places or things. For
Example:. Aslam is boy. He goes to school. Boy, School are
common noun.
2. Proper Noun:- The names of particular people, places our things are called proper nouns. For
Example:. Kamran lives in Lahore. Kamran, Lahore, Quaid-e-Azam e. t. c
3. Regular Noun:. They are singular and their plural form can be made by adding “S” or “es” or “
ies” For Example:- He is my Friend. He is a good by. He likes to eat apple. Friend,
Boy , Apple are Regular Noun.
4. Irregular Noun:. The Word whose plural forms do not follow the standard rule of adding s/ es / ies
to the end but have instead special forms are called Irregular noun. For Example : . Foot .
House, Man etc.
5. Reflexive Pronoun:. Reflexive pronoun are the words that refer to the noun or pronoun that
is the subject noun or pronoun that is the subject or the verb. The words myself, yourself himself,
herself, itself, our selves yourselves and themselves are reflexive pronoun.
6. Collective noun:- The words that refer to a group of people, places our things are called
collective noun. Our things are called collective noun., For Example:- Team , Fluke, Army etc.
7. Adverb of frequency:. Some adverbs answer the question” How often?” They are called adverbs
of frequency . For Example :0 regular, always, never etc.
8. Countable noun:- Name of persons or things that can be counted are called countable noun.
For Examples:- apple, Bag, bus etc.
9. Uncountable noun:- Names of persons places and things that cannot be counted are called
uncountable noun. For example:- Salt, Oil , Soil etc.
10.Adjective:- An adjective is a word used with a noun to add something to its meaning .
For Example:. She is a nice girl. Lahore is bit city.
11.Preposition:. The words that determine the relation between two things are called
preposition. For Example:- at, in behind, under etc. The mouse is in the door.
12.Absolute adjective:- An adjective with a meaning that is generally not capable of being
intensified or captured. For example:- This car is very unique.
13.Adverb of place:- Some adverbs answer the question “Where” they are called adverb of place.
For example:- outside , nearby e.t.c.
14. Adverb of time:- Some adverbs answers the question “ When” they are called adverbs of time.
For examples:. Yesterday., tomorrow e.t.c
15.Adverb of manner:- Some adverbs describe they way people do things. They answer
the question” How” They are called adverbs of manners. For Example:- He was driving
Carelessly. He walks slowly. She writes neatly.
16.Conjunction:- Conjunctions are the words that join two words, clauses or sentences. For

17.Possessive pronoun:- Possessive pronouns are used to talk about things that belong to
people. For example:- this book mine. My, mine, your, his, her, our , ours, its, there and
theirs are possessive pronouns.

18. Indefinite pronoun:- An indefinite pronoun does not refer directly to any other word, Most
indefinite pronouns express the idea of quantity . For example: Does anybody. Case of the
traffic rules?
19.Modal Verbs: Modal verbs are some helping verbs which help to express the mode
our manner in which the action is done. The modal verbs modify the meaning of the main verb.
For example:- Can, could, may , might, must, ought to , should e. t. c. She can sing a
song. May I help you?
20. Transitive verb:- When a verb has an object that receives the action of the verb, we say that
the verb is transitive. For Example: My brother gives me chocolate every Sunday.
21.Intransitive verb:- When the verb does not have an object and nothing receives the
action, we say that the verb is transitive. For Example:- The child cried. The old
man coughed.
