INTRODUCTION TO NEHRU PLACE PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

A key issue related to the sustainable development of Delhi, and a minimum quality
and standard of living pertains to the availability of, and accessibility to basic
infrastructure facilities viz. water, power, sewerage, drainage and solid waste
management.
The rapid and almost uncontrolled growth of population has put these facilities under
severe pressure, and there are significant deficiencies.

Nehru Place, located on a site of 96 acres was one of the first district centres built in the mid seventies as per the Delhi Master Plan 1961.
Located on the corner of the Outer Ring Road and Lala Lajpat Rai Marg across from Kalkaji, Nehru Place is easily accessible from most areas of
South Delhi. Nehru Place is known as the ‘Electronics Hub of Delhi’ and focuses more on retailing Electronics, Appliances, Computers, Laptops
and accessories, etc.
The master plan for the district centre prepared by the planning department of the DDA, was developed around a number of well defined square
plazas

Nehru Place is accessible by all forms of public transport, as it lies next to the Outer Ring Road, an arc that encompasses major parts of South Delhi,
and the bus services are very frequent, usually once every five to eight minutes. Private taxis are also available, as well as a paid parking for cars
and motorcycles. The famous Baha'i faith Lotus temple is also located close by. Now Nehru place is accessible by Delhi Metro. The nearest metro
stations include Nehru Place and Kalkaji Mandir .

Has its own Delhi-Metro Station on Violet Line (Kashmere

Delhi is a commercial and administrative hub, providing employment opportunities which has accelerated the pace GENERATION, COLLECTION AND PROCESS OF WASTE

The solid wastes of the offices are thrown to the dustbins in polythene by their private cleaner. The MCD vehicle comes in early morning and the Manushi Sangathan stays there from morning to evening cleaning with some perios of time. Still they
