Introduction

The use of computers and the internet can aid communities by supporting communication and
access to information, thereby building social capital and community capacity. Using computers
can assist the community planning process community participation, and information sharing.
Computer-mediated communication can build community awareness, encourage local decision
making and dialogue between groups, and support disadvantaged communities. Status barriers can
be reduced, and online communication with disenfranchised groups, such as women people of
color, and those with disabilities, can be promoted.

Youth are among the disenfranchised groups. Adults typically view youth as the cause of
community deterioration rather than as a community asset. Youth often feel they have little voice
in their communities. Youth participation in their communities can positively influence programs
so that they are more responsive to youth’s needs and can help support youth’s sense of self-
determination from a community and individual perspective, thereby promoting their health.
Increasing youth community participation, however, has been problematic. Since computers are
an important aspect of youth culture, they may offer solutions to increasing and supporting
community participation.

Technology has been in the mainstream for as long as we can recall. It has helped us in many
variant ways, such as innovation, business, research and development and most especially,
education. But among all the pros there are also following cons that challenges the invention of
Technology. It is true that it has helped us, but it is also evident that technology acts like a powerful
poison that kills us, slowly. But it is never too late, it will never be too late as long as you become
awoken of what’s reality, and that is living in today’s society.

The use of technology would always be one of the greatest breakthroughs of the world, we just
have to accept the fact that technology is still invented by people, and in the end of the day, its still
the people that matters more, but this mini research will discuss about the evident conflict between
technology and human dignity.
What would be an example where computers influence the young people?

Youth have used computer technology to support various community projects. Websites
are seen as potential vehicles to support community building among groups that confront
prejudice and dominant. Hart argues that electronic publishing has the potential to broaden
the reach os children’s voices and provide instant feedback. Cockburn supports that
children can use information and communication technologies to increase their
participation in public life through better access to information, collective data gathering
as for young people (Youth Power, 2017)

1. What would be an Alternative to the addiction or dependence to computers?

Computer addiction can be characterized as excessive desire to use computer that results
in negative consequences emotionally and physically for the user. Individuals who are
preoccupied with computers can land up in serious problems related to relationship,
hygiene, self-care etc. To get rid on computer addiction you must

•Limit time on computer

To reduce the risk of computer addiction, you should limit the amount of time spent on
computer. You can also use a stopwatch to alert you when you have exceeded your
computer time.
•Avoid using computer as a mode of recreation.

A lot of people use computer for work and educational purpose. If you find it difficult to
stop using computer, make a commitment to stop using it after a certain period. Instead of
using computer for recreational purpose, play some indoor games with family or spend
quality time with your beloved ones. Instead of spending unnecessary time, replace the
time to do some healthy activity; and

•Use computer only for important work.

2. What is another way to look at it? (computer games or virtual communication)
- You must look technology as a Virtual Communication.
Communication is an important aspect of life. Without it, people cannot understand each
other nor work towards common good. (EzTalks 2017)

Virtual communication technology refers to any technology people use to communicate

with each other when they can't be face to face.
(Cheryl A. Frost 2017)

Virtual communication is Convenience, it reduces frustration, especially when they are

busy or caught up in traffic; time saving, virtual communication software allows you to
pass across whatever information you have from wherever you are; saves money, you are
able to reduce transport expenses. (EzTalks 2017)

3. Would you explain why is it necessary or beneficial, and who benefits?

-. Technology has the ability to enhance relationships between teachers and students.
When teachers effectively integrate technology into subject areas, teachers grow into roles
of adviser, content expert, and coach. Technology helps make teaching and learning more
meaningful and fun. There are countless reasons why technology is a key aspect of learning
in the schools. Whether we like it or not, technology is everywhere; and in order for our
students to survive in post-secondary education and the business world, they must know
technology. Consequently technology is the best achievement of scientists during the
humanity, because it has improved a lot of aspects in our lives. It satisfies every wishes of
man. May be the most important fact that with the help of technology we can prevent
sudden illnesses, safe people' s life and also lengthen our life.

The Internet is one such way. The Internet is a vast source of information that is
accessible from almost anywhere on the planet. It is a seemingly never-ending resource
that can be used for good especially when used for educational purposes. As we all know
the Internet comes with its fair share of dangers, and a knowledge of how to use the Internet
safely is a necessity in today’s world. However, the positives far outweigh the negatives.
The Internet gives people the opportunity to educate themselves, and all from the comfort
of their own home if they wish. It allows people to be able to learn as much as they want
about what we want.

The invention of the computer was a very important point. Communication is thus
enhanced, and companies can communicate more easily with foreign countries. Research
is also simplified. (Nick Ismail, 2017). Technology is beneficial to humans for several
reasons. At the medical level, technology can help treat more sick people and consequently
save many lives and combat very harmful viruses and bacteria. Technology has also
increased the productivity of almost every industry in the world. Technology improves
daily lives; allowing to move physical storage units to virtual storage banks and more.
SUMMARY

Imagine if technology was never invented, how are we in society today? How are we going to
be able to move forward?

At the end of the day, technology is invented for human use, to increase productivity and such.
Technology is still made by humans, it is still in human hands if we would control technology,
or let technology control us. It is very evident that this major breakthrough has been into use
for as long as we can remember, even up to this point upon making this mini research.

Technology, is everywhere. We are surrounded by technology, but that doesn’t mean that we
should let technology overpower us. Upon discussing the given questions, it is evidently
answered that given by its advantages, technology also has its downfalls to its users. Such as
computer addiction in which an individual spend almost a day in front of a computer screen,
and this being said is not healthy in any aspects.

To summarize our mini research, technology and its uses is all about control, self control to be
specific, because if you would look into the brighter side you can easily see that Technology
has been a big help most especially in professional and educational field. And just like Dr. T.P.
Chia said “Technology changes the quality of life, Technology cannot replace human
intelligence.” And that is reality, we change at the same time that technology changes. We
always keep up with the pace of technology consider its manner because at the end of the day
like what Billy Cox has stated “Technology should improve your life, not become your life.”

CONCLUSION

"Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them,
the teacher is the most important." Bill Gates said. Technology has forever changed the world
we live in. We're online, in one way or another, all day long. Our phones and computers have
become reflections of our personalities, our interests, and our identities. They hold much that
is important to us. James Comey said. Progress in many of the basic computing and information
technologies has been rapid in recent years, and the committee does not expect the pace of
change to slow down in the foreseeable future. While some technologies are reaching maturity
now, many important technologies have enormous future potential that can affect people but
at the end of the day, we all have our own understandings about how we look at things and on
how we will use it.

Technology can affect life both positively and negatively. New technology always changes our
life very much and takes it to a new level. It is like the new way of thinking or doing the normal
things differently, better and much more faster with less hassle and at a much affordable rate.
Technology impacts the environment, people and the society as a whole. The way we use
technology determines if its impacts are positive to the society or negative but it is about how
people will use technology that will affects their everyday live and their society.

In Conclusion, “The human spirit must prevail over technology” a powerful quote by Albert
Einstein

RECOMMENDATION

It is highly recommended that the use of technology should have proper assessment from
parents and guardians. Also, personal evaluation should also be done by an individual who
uses technology frequently, in order to know if they are still living up to the real purpose upon
the invention of technology and that is to make life easier and more productive.

For future researchers, we advise that you do further and thorough analysis upon this study,
this is a broad topic so it is highly advised that besides from technology, also use reliable and
available sources such as the library and books to further understand the large scope of this
topic.

To conclude this mini research, it is very visible that technology continues to grow as we use
it everyday, but we shall also be responsible about how and when do we use it, technology is
just an option for easier source of education, but at the end of the day, Technology isn’t
everything.

If the above stated recommendations is attained, then it is safe to proclaim that we are living
in an efficient, world, a beautiful, peaceful place to live in.
