Chapter I: Project Summary

A. Name of the Enterprise

The enterprise that we are going to build shall be named “SKYHIGH CHICKEN

POULTRY”. The owners are; Kent S. Alarado, Dennis L. Amotan, Marytrel A. Domgho, Rose

S. Erojo, Juliena A. Kinglon, Reymart L. Maquiling, Che-Ann G. Nibla, and Norfaida U. Sappal.

The name of the poultry is not that ordinary precisely because it connotes a more profit for the

owners vis-à-vis income for the workers. Income and profit so to speak since the business aimed

at soaring high in the ladder of agri-business enterprise. The name of this poultry will surely

capture the hearings of the consumer and as well as of the government.

B. Location

Skyhigh Chicken Poultry is one of the best poultry farms in Region 9 and the whole of

Mindanao which can be located at Barangay Misok, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte. We

actually conducted our consumer studies and market surveys in order to come up a decision to

put up this poultry here in the Municipality of Sindangan. Skyhigh Chicken Poultry shall be put

up in a barangay where there are less inhabitants or lesser density of population. Of course the

project area shall be according to the approved papers signed by the Local Government Units

(LGU), Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Department of Health (DOH).

The Municipality of Sindangan, has a land area of 451.00 square kilometers or 174.13

square miles which constitutes 6.18% of Zamboanga del Norte's total area. Its population as

determined by the 2015 Census was 99,435. This represented 9.83% of the total population of

Zamboanga del Norte province, or 2.74% of the overall population of the Zamboanga

Peninsula region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 220 inhabitants

per square kilometer or 571 inhabitants per square mile. The nearest airport is LGP - Legazpi

1|Page
Pagadian, located 68.0 km south east of Sindangan. Other airports nearby include DGT -

Dumaguete (125.3 km north), CGY - Ladag Cagayan De Oro (178.4 km east), CEB - Cebu

Cotabato (178.6 km south east), ZAM - Zamboanga Intl (179.0 km south west) and Sicayab

Airport, Dipolog City.

C. Descriptive Definition of the Product

Skyhigh Chicken Poultry is not only focusing on one line of product. There are actually

several of products that this company will be producing locally and even to extend to the global

market. We will be producing chicken eggs as our main product, chicken meat as the 2nd main

product. Together with these focal products, Sky High Chicken Poultry is also selling pillows

and ornaments. Poultry feathers are also used for making pillows, fancy articles and ornaments.

Poultry offers good full time or part-time employment opportunity to farmers and the

unemployed in the surrounding barangays.

Moreover, poultry products like egg and meat have high nutritional value. Among all

edible meat, broiler meat has the least fat content. It can also be cooked in its own fat and does

2|Page
not require any from outside. Poultry meat contains more protein and essential amino acids than

other meats. Chicken meat is also low in its cholesterol content in comparison. It is for these

reasons that we opted to choose this kind of business aside from its viability, market demand, it

also promise to help people balance their health and diet.

D. Vision

Skyhigh Chicken Poultry envisioned creating a multi – level business that creates a

wholistic development among the different stakeholders the workers, buying community, and the

future generations.

customers. We ensure that our customer care is second to none. We will give utmost care to our

clients for they are the reasons why we are in business. Skyhigh Chicken Poultry will go the

extra miles to get them customers’ satisfied. The staffs and owners of the poultry will see to it

that we get what they are looking for whenever they visit our farm and display centers.

F. Project’s Long Range Objective

We do not only own this business idea, we even go beyond the expectation of the

business sector and the consumers. As businessman, we adhere to make profits. More than this

adherence to income, we are also giving value to our customer’s money and time whenever they

patronize us.

We envisioned a sustainable supply of wholesome poultry meat; eggs and value added

products to the local and international markets at competitive prices and focused to facilitate and

owners of the poultry will see to it that we get what they are looking for whenever they visit our

farm and display centers.

G. Feasibility Criteria

Poultry industry is a robust business enterprise not only in the Philippines bust also in the

whole world. According to the report of Pakistan Economists, poultry sector is one of the

important and vibrant segments of agriculture in Pakistan. This sector has contributed 1.3 percent

in GDP during 2013-14 while it’s contribution in agriculture and livestock value added stood at

6.1% and 10.8 % respectively. Poultry meat contributes 28.0% of the total meat production in the

country. The current investment in Poultry Industry is more than Rs. 200.00 billion (source:

Pakistan Economic survey 2013-14). Poultry sector has shown a robust growth @ 8-10 percent

annually which reflects its inherent potential. The poultry value added at current factor cost has

increased from Rs. 121.7 billion (2012-13) to 130.7 billion (2013-14) showing an increase of

7.4% as compared to previous year (source: Pakistan Economic Survey 2013-14).

With that, this business enterprise has a potential to click. Since Sindangan is one of the

most growing municipalities in Zamboanga del Norte, its demand for meat and eggs

consequently grow. The Municipality of Sindangan has growing population and in fact it is

second to Dipolog City when it comes to the voting populace. Hence, putting a locally made

4|Page
poultry in Sindangan is not a waste of our money but making our investment grow and prosper.

Therefore, this proposed business enterprise has a potential and can be materialized when the

time comes to its mature signature.

H. Highlights of the Project

F.1. History

This project started with the golden mind of the owners, incorporators, and some

consultants. The birth of this project started in June 2019. At first, this is just a school paper

without knowing to put this idea into reality. Sky High Chicken Poultry is operated and owned

by Kent S. Alarado, Dennis L. Amotan, Marytrel A. Domgho, Rose S. Erojo, Juliena A. Kinglon,

Reymart L. Maquiling, Che-Ann G. Nibla, and Norfaida U. Sappal.

This business endeavour won’t come into reality without thorough investigation, study,

and survey. As per report of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Office 9 in

Zamboanga City, the poultry industry in Zamboanga Peninsula is still lacking. Supplies are

mostly coming from the other Provinces such as Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Negros

Oriental, and Cebu. There are local players however cannot suffice the demand of the region and

therefore prices drastically increases.

To put up a new business enterprise under the poultry industry is not a waste of time and

money. According to the report of Pakistan Economists, poultry sector is one of the important

and vibrant segments of agriculture in Pakistan. This sector has contributed 1.3 percent in GDP

during 2013-14 while it’s contribution in agriculture and livestock value added stood at 6.1% and

10.8 % respectively. Poultry meat contributes 28.0% of the total meat production in the country.

F.3. Nature of the Study

This feasibility study employed different methods in order to come up the best offshoot.

As the proponent of this business endeavour, we employ descriptive research in which

questionnaire, interview, and documentary analysis were utilized.

The questionnaires were strategically designed for the consumers and business sectors in

order to support our plan to pursue the said business. The researchers also employed interviews

to the business personalities in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte and as well as the local

business community in Dipolog City particularly the Dipolog Chamber of Commerce and

Industry to validate some results of the interviews and research we had done.

Furthermore, the proponents are always welcoming ideas and especially those that can

contribute to the success of the Sky High Chicken Poultry business. Being in the business sector

challenges us to be more dynamic and receptive to the new ideas. This is precisely a constant

calling to all entrepreneurs today.

F.4. Mode of Financing

On the onset of the business idea, the incorporators’ cash on hand is already at

2,000,000.00 as its starting capital. Aside from the cash on hand, the business will also be

financed through the effort of the government agencies which are very willing to help the micro,

small, and medium enterprises in Region 9. These government agency partners are the

7|Page
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of

Science and Technology (DOST) and TESDA.

The Department of Trade and Industry will help the business in terms of branding,

technical know-how of the owners as well as the workers. The DTI also helped us in the making

of labels of our meat packaging and as well as with the eggs. They are likewise providing

financial access to the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP). The Department of

Agriculture (DA) acted as the regulatory body when it comes to the prescribed buildings and

other amenities for the poultry. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) provides us

the necessary equipment particularly in the culling and hatchery. DOST likewise provides us

access to financing through the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP). TESDA are there for the

necessary accreditation of the workers and as well as the owners.

There are two financings that the Sky High Chicken Poultry entered into. First, is the

PHP2,000,000.00 worth of equipment and facilities by the Department of Science and

Technology. This amount will be returned to the DOST after 10 years of operation. The second

financing scheme that we entered into is the loan from the Land Bank of the Philippines worth of

PHP1,000,000.00 which is payable in 10years with an interest rate of 1% per annum or

equivalent to PHP100,000.00 per annum interest.

F.5. Investment Cost

Key set cost elements comprise of land acquisition cost, building & structures, plant &

machinery, furniture, vehicles for transporting one day chicks/ feed etc. Total project set up cost

is estimated at PHP5,000,000.00. Following is the breakup of project set up cost:

I. Major Assumptions and Summary of Findings and Conclusions

G.1. Market Feasibility

At present, Sindangan is known mainly for its robust economy and an increasing

population. With the growing of economic activities and inhabitants of the municipality, the

demands for the livestock, poultry and egg industry also grow. There are primarily as primarily

backyard enterprise, the egg production business in this town but not yet evolve into commercial

scale proportion. The proximity of Jose Dalman, Manukan, President Manuel A. Roxas,

Katipunan, Dipolog City, Dapitan City in the North and Salug Liloy, Labason, Titay and Ipil in

the South areas ensure the municipality of commercial linkages. As a matter of fact, the

municipality is dubbed as the most progressive municipality in Zamboanga del Norte.

Entrepreneurs have the awareness of past, current and future issues affecting their future

business enterprise (Laguador, 2013). Premised on this socio-economic milieu and as a potential

resident- entrepreneur, the researchers were inspired to examine the commercial potentiality of

the local egg and chicken egg industry.

9|Page
G.2. Technical Feasibility

Egg production from a Layer Poultry Farming depends on the care and farm

management. Within the first 20 weeks of age, about 5% of hens start laying eggs. About 10%

birds start laying at their 21 weeks of age. When they reach 26 to 30 weeks of age, they produce

highly although it may be different depending on their strain. After laying a maximum number

of eggs, they usually stop laying for a few days and after this period, their egg production might

reduce slowly.

Poultry farming is a continuous source of income. It is not seasonal and can produce

income for the entire year. While chicken lay eggs between 6 to 8 months, broilers take only 6 to

10 weeks to bring in income. Meat, eggs, feathers and manure of chicken and broilers are all

saleable and income generating. Poultry farming in a small scale requires only minimum space

and they can be reared even in the backyards of homes. Poultry farming requires very little

water for both drinking and cleaning. One litre of water is sufficient for 5 birds for a day.

Poultry droppings are rich in nitrogen and organic material and hence, are considered valuable as

fertilizers.

G.3. Management Feasibility

As to the management of the SkyHigh Chicken Poultry, we always consider it as the

easiest part of our business endeavour. We are already knowledgeable on the business. We have

been into this business since our younger years. It is only at this time that we have capital and

shift into the commercial platform of poultry.

Skyhigh Chicken Poultry will be headed by the President together with the Board of

Directors, Executive Director and the workers on the ground. All key personnel will undergo

10 | P a g e
seminars from time to time to be more acquaint with the business operations. These seminars are

most likely led by the Local Government Unit and the other Government Agencies.

G.4. Financial Feasibility

The business we are now building is very much feasible when it comes to its financial

aspect. This is so precisely because we are partnering with the different government agencies

that would help us materialized the project. The incorporators’ cash on hand is already at

2,000,000.00 as its starting capital. Aside from the cash on hand, the business will also be

financed through the effort of the government agencies which are very willing to help the micro,

small, and medium enterprises in Region 9. These government agency partners are the

G.5. Socio-Economic Feasibility
