Over the next two months, the third-year students in PPIPT Faculty will finish their study and off
to somewhere far from this university. They perhaps already accepted any job offers, might as well
begin to search and apply for their dream works, or they choose to cool down a little bit. Who knows,
right? There are three reasons that explain why all the graduated students did what they do, which are
self-growth, time management, and financial.

Both students who’s taking a gap before working and those straightly work after graduate have
similarities in self-discovery. It is the time where they are becoming aware of their own potentials,
feelings, motives and priorities of themselves by learning new experiences and skills. For those who take
a year gap would learn life experiences such as ethnic’s cultural, people behaviors’, discovers now
hobbies, travel the world and create exciting memories with others. This helps them to become more
mature and gain wide knowledge about the world around them. At the same time, those who already
working after graduate tends to obtain broad range of experiences in the organization and business
market through their jobs. For instance, they attain a great management skills, high communication
capability, and get to widen their public relation by their daily meeting and interactions with various
people of the organization. In sum, both students have similarities regarding their self-growth.

On the other hand, students that taking a gap year before working have differences in self-
planning rather than students that work after graduate. For the explanation, those who take a year gap
have flexibility in time and are stress-free due to their everlasting spare time and commitment less life
where they have every second to fulfill with everything they desire to do. However, those who works
have rather a limited time access to perform anything personal as they have to prioritize their work in
the daily routines. Some of them even have to work overtime or did not have a weekend off due to their
duties. They tend to feel stressful as there are lots of pressure like catching the due date of their jobs. To
summarize, time management are different in both students’ life.

Furthermore, both of the students have differences in terms of money matters. The reason is
those who take a year gap are mostly dependable to others especially their family as they are jobless or
have unstable income due to only works on part-time jobs or freelances to fulfill their basic necessity.
Besides that, taking a gap before working also waste a bunch of money to satisfy their wants.
Meanwhile, those who works have their own income that will cover their daily and basic necessities.
These students become more independent and have the ability to stand on their own feet in early stage
of life. Other than that, they are a lot wiser in terms of handling money efficiently. To put it briefly, there
is differences in terms of financial for both students.

In a nutshell, although there are similarity and differences in both students who’s taking a gap
year before working and students who are working right after graduate, there seem to be only one that
gives more benefits than the other. In my opinion, working straight after graduate is the best option as
the choice appears to be more towards a secure and stable future.
