2.0 SYNOPSIS

This is an introductory course which will emphasize on general basic concepts of engineering
and chemical engineering, the professions as well as introduction to teamwork and
communication skills. The chapters include the process equipment, utilities in industries,
major industries in Malaysia and issues on sustainability which relates to chemical
engineering.

3.0 OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

1. Develop extensive knowledge of chemical engineering and demonstrate process flow in


chemical related industry.
2. Explain the chemical process and utilities requirements in chemical process industries.
3. Acquire the concept of sustainable development and its challenges in chemical process
industries.
