1. The watershed of a stream has five raingauge stations inside the basin. When Theissen
polygons were constructed, three more stations (B, D and F) lying outside the watershed
were found to have weightages. The details of Theissen polygons surrounding each
raingauge and the recordings of the raingauges are given below. Determine the average
depth of the rainfall on the watershed by a) arithmetic mean method, and b) Theissen
mean method.

2. The mass curve of rainfall in a storm of total duration 90 minutes is given below. (a)
Draw the hyetograph of the storm at 20 minutes time step, (b) Plot the maximum
intensity-duration curve for the storm, and (c) Plot the maximum depth-duration curve for
the storm.

3. The annual rainfall values at a station P for a period of 20 years are as follows:
record of annual rainfall at a place is available for 25 years. Plot the curve of recurrence
interval vs annual magnitude and estimate the magnitude of rainfall at the station that
would correspond to a recurrence interval of 15 years.

4. A one-day rainfall of 10.0
1 cm at a place X was
w found too have a retuurn period of
o 50 years.
Calculate th
he probability that a onne-day rainffall of magnnitude equaal to or largeer than 10.0

cm:
(a) Will no
ot occur at sttation X durring the nexxt 20 years
(b) Will occur thrice inn 50 successive years
(c) Will occur in the next
n year

Day 9 afterr irrigation. Assume soiil-water deppletion factoor = 0.2, andd crop factoor = 0.65.

7. The rainfaall on five successivee days on a catchmeent was 4, 6, 10, 5, and 1 cm

8. Compute the ponding time and cumulative infiltration at ponding for a clay loam soil
with a 25 percent initial effective saturation subject to a rainfall intensity of (a) 1 cm/h
and (b) 3 cm/h. Porosity = 0.464, effective porosity = 0.309, wetting front soil suction
head = 20.88 cm, and Hydraulic conductivity = 0.1 cm/h.
9. Calculate the cumulative infiltration and infiltration rate after one hour of rainfall at 3
cm/h on a clay loam with a 25 percent initial effective saturation. Porosity = 0.464,
effective porosity = 0.309, wetting front soil suction head = 20.88 cm, and Hydraulic
conductivity = 0.1 cm/h.
