Important
Before using, you must determine the following:
1. The types of contaminants for which the respirator is being selected and exposure time.
2. The concentration level of the contaminant(s). Do not use for particle concentrations that exceed
1O times the OSHA PEL or applicable occupational exposure limit, whichever is lower.
3. Whether the respirator can be properly fitted to the wearer’s face. Do not use with beards, or other
conditions that prevent a good seal between the face and the sealing surface of the respirator.
4. Before required use of filtering facepiece respirators, a written respiratory protection program must
be implemented, meeting all the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 including medical evaluation,
training, fit testing.

In direct contact with external environment, plays an essential
part on the transmission of light rays. It is the structure of the
human body which has the highest tactile sensibility.
The Pupil
(light controller) situated in the middle of the iris, it works
like the diaphragm of a camera. Its diameter changes in
accordance with the luminosity.
The Lens
Allows focusing (near vision, far vision) thanks to a control
muscle. With age, this muscle loses power and impacts near
vision (presbyopia). The lens can lose its transparency due
to exposure to IR (infrared light) and UV (ultraviolet light),
resulting in loss of vision (cataract).
The Retina
Where all light beams converge, transmits all information
through the optic nerve to the brain in order to create your
vision. Burned retina cells are lost forever which causes
irreversible loss of vision.

We believe that health and safety are the priorities in
any working environment, and that greater comfort and
modern styles improve worker compliance with regulatory
requirements for protective eyewear. Therefore, we take care
in adding comfort features where they are needed most, such
as heavy contact areas like nose bridges and temple tips. The
materials we choose to provide better comfort are designed to
be durable to last and soft to the touch. We are also continually
working on new coatings, new materials and new designs to
bring the latest technology, innovation and fashion into our
protective eyewear line.
What contributes to eye injuries at work?

• Not wearing eye protection.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly three out of every five workers injured are not wearing eye
protection at the time of the accident.
• Wearing the wrong kind of eye protection for the job.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics also reported that about 40% of the injured workers were wearing some form
of eye protection when the accident occurred. However, these workers were most likely to be wearing
protective eyeglasses with no side shields.
What causes eye injuries?

• Flying particles.
Per the Department of Labor Statistics, almost 70% of accidents resulted from flying or falling objects or
sparks striking the eye. Injured workers estimated that nearly three-fifths of the objects were smaller than a
pinhead. Contact with chemicals caused one-fifth of the injuries.
Where do accidents occur most often?

• Craftwork.
Potential eye hazards can be found in nearly every industry, but according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics,
more than 40% of injuries occurred among craft workers, like mechanics, repairers, carpenters and plumbers.
• Industrial equipment operation.
The Bureau reported that over a third of the injured workers were operators, such as assemblers, sanders, and
grinding machine operators. Almost half of these injured workers were employed in manufacturing.
How can eye injuries be prevented?

• Always wear effective eye protection.
OSHA standards require that employers provide workers with suitable eye protection. To be effective, the
eyewear must be of the appropriate type for the hazard encountered and properly fitted.
• Better training and education.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, most workers were hurt while doing their regular jobs. Workers
injured while not wearing protective eyewear most often said they believed it was not required by the
situation. Even though the vast majority of employers furnished eye protection at no cost to employees, about
40% of the workers received no information on where and what kind of eyewear should be used.
• Maintenance.
Eye protection devices must be properly maintained. Scratched and dirty devices reduce vision, cause glare
and may contribute to accidents. Scratched or damaged eyewear should be replaced immediately.

3M™ H-700 Series Hard Hat is comfortable, tough and lightweight. Designed with a low profile for
improved stability and balance, the hard hat provides ultimate comfort and protection from small falling
objects striking the top of the hard hat. These hard hats feature accessory slots to accommodate 3M’s cap-
mounted ear muffs, headgear, faceshields and welding helmets. The 3M™ H-700 Hard Hat (Non-Vented)
meets the requirements of ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2009 Type I, Class C, G and E. The 3M™ H-700 Vented Hard
Hat meets the requirements of ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 Type I, Class C.

Retro-Reflective Technology
Combining versatility, functionality and fashion, 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Materials makes use of a
technology that is known as retro-reflection. The material is easy to process and there are many creative
possibilities. 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Materials can be sewn onto garments or simply applied using a heat
transfer process. Millions of small glass spheres or micro-prisms reflect the incident light and focus it back
towards the original light source. The obvious advantage is that the person in the light can be seen better
and sooner thanks to the retro-reflective effect. From the car-driver’s view, they have extra time to react and
many accidents can thus be avoided.

visibility of the wearer in nighttime or low-light conditions
when illuminated by a light source; such as headlights, by

Storage and Disposal

• Store in dry, clean conditions in original packaging prior to use. Once opened, discard original packaging properly.
• Store away from direct sunlight or sources of high temperature.
• Prolonged exposure to sunlight may result in fading of the fluorescent fabric or other deterioration of the vest or its components.
• Expected shelf life is two years after date of receipt from manufacturer when stored properly and unopened.
• Handle and dispose of used vests with care and in accordance with local regulations.
• The manufacturer of the vest will accept no liability for vests which have not been stored or maintained in an appropriate manner.

The easy-to-use 3M™ Speedglas™ Welding Helmet Series 100 is the
ideal auto-darkening helmet for the occasional welder. We can now
offer a new option for head protection with the 3M™ Speedglas™
Quick Release Welding Helmets (QR): The rail swiftly clasps onto
your safety helmet via a releasable ratcheting mechanism. With the
rail installed, you can easily detach the welding visor so your safety
helmet remains in place for non-welding tasks. No more welding
without head protection. And no more wearing a welding helmet
when you do not need it.
