OBJECTIVES Monday
A. Content Standard Demonstrate understanding of how heat and sound travel using various objects.
B. Performance Standard Demonstrate conceptual understanding of properties/characteristics of light,
heat and sound.
C. Learning Competency/ Objectives 1. Observe how heat is transferred through solid materials.
Write the LC code for each. 2. Describe how heat travel.S4FE-IIIf-g-4
3. Show proper discipline in performing activities.
Ask:
Describe what you see in the picture?
Why there is a smoke coming from the pot?
What is the reason why it happen?
Presentation Today we are going to describe how heat is transferred to liquid materials.
What to do:
1. Half fill the can with water.
2. Set up the candle and the lighter.
3. put atleast 5 mongo seed in the can.
4. Use the clam/tong to hold the can.
5. Put the lower part of the can directly to the flame of the candle.
6. Get the initial temperature of the water using laboratory thermometer.
7. Observe the movement of the mongo seed when the water starts to boil.
8. Make a graph of your temperature reading.
C. Explain Ask:
(Reporting, Analysis and Discussion) 1. What happens to the temperature of the water after three minutes?
2. what do you notice about the movement of the mongo seed in the can?
3. What could you infer about the temperature of the water based on the graph
you made?
Say:
As the water at the bottom of the can gets heated, the temperature rises. The
heating coming from the water at the bottom of the can was passed on the rest
of the water in the container. The random motion of the mongo seed illustrates
the heating that is being transferred.
As D. Elaborate What have you learned?
(Generalization, Abstraction, Application) How is heat transferred to the liquid materials?
