Pre-Installation Inspection of Press After Long Storage

Overview
This document applies to presses that have been stored in a warehouse for over 6 months.

This document describes how to inspect a new press on the first day of the press installation,
starting from delivering the press to the customer site.

The process consists of:

• Inspecting press elements
• Mandatory parts replacements
• Required activities after powering up the press

To replace parts or to service the press subsystems, see the relevant service documents.

If you find any potential risks or issues, before you continue with the press installation, inform the
relevant HP Indigo personnel in your region.

Complete the “CE Report” on page 13. Email it to the technical team at your local service center for
further support. Attach any relevant pictures or documents to describe the press condition. In the
report, indicate if any additional parts replacement were required until the completion of press
installation.

This document includes some pictures of assemblies and parts. These are examples. They do not
cover all the required assemblies and parts.

After unpacking the press crates

The following are just a few examples of assemblies that should be reviewed:
exposed metal parts, gaskets, O-rings, rubber hoses, actuators/shafts, hinges, belts, rubber bands,
rails, rollers, etc.

1. Inspect the press top assemblies for any signs of rust. Specifically, inspect milled areas on
chassis.
2. If you see rust on the chassis, clean the area with IPA and a lint-free wipe. If necessary, use fine
polishing paper. Then clean and grease the area using MOLYKOTE® 44 grease (MCH-0183-01) or
rust-proof material OKS 2300 (HP P/N 6040-1462).

3. Check the imaging oil hose connections from the utility cabinet to the engine, and from the ink
