Arlington Bishop Paul S. Loverde announced clergy


assignments last weekend. See the full list on page 2.

Father Ronald J. Gripshover Jr.

Father Ronald J. Gripshover Jr. will become parochial


administrator of St. Lawrence Church in Alexandria.

He was born in Lansing, Mich., March 16, 1966. He is the


eldest of seven children.

Father Gripshover graduated from King George High School


in 1984. He graduated from Mary Washington College with a
bachelor's in physics in 1988.

He
entered
Mount St.
Mary's
Seminary
in

Emmitsburg, Md., in 1991. He was ordained to the diaconate


May 27, 1995, and was assigned as a deacon to St. Mary
Church in Alexandria. He was ordained to the priesthood May
18, 1996, by Arlington Bishop John R. Keating. His first
assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
Church in Lake Ridge (1996-99).

Father Gripshover served as parochial vicar of St. Bernadette


Church in Springfield (1999-2000); the Cathedral of St.
Thomas More in Arlington (2000-02); St. Louis Church in
Alexandria (2002-04); St. John the Beloved Church in McLean
(2004-08); St. Leo the Great Church in Fairfax from (2008-
09); St. Patrick Church in Fredericksburg (2009-2012); and
Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Arlington (2012-15).

Father Edward C. Hathaway

Father Edward C. Hathaway will become pastor of St. Mary


Church in Alexandria.

He was born Jan. 5, 1961, to Charles and Marie Hathaway in


Oakland, Calif. One of seven children, he attended Oak View
Elementary School and James W. Robinson High School in
Fairfax. He graduated from the University of Virginia in
Charlottesville in 1983 and studied at Cambridge University
in England, 1983-84.

He worked as a technical recruiter for Essex Human


Resources and Metier International, and as a mortgage bank
recruiter with Hunter Search before entering St. Charles
Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, Pa.

He was ordained May 18, 1991, by Arlington Bishop John R.


Keating. His first assignment was as parochial vicar of St.
Michael Church in Annandale (1991-95).

Father Hathaway served as parochial vicar of St. Andrew the


Apostle Church in Clifton (1995-99) and the Cathedral of St.
Thomas More in Arlington (1999-00). He was pastor of St.
John the Beloved Church in McLean (2000-05); St. John the
Baptist Church in Front Royal (2005-07); and St. Veronica
Church in Chantilly (2007-2015).

Father John D. Kelly

Father John D. Kelly will become pastor of Blessed


Sacrament Church in Alexandria.

He was born in Washington, Pa., July 13, 1958, one of three


children of John and Josephine Kelly. He graduated from
Hinton High School in Hinton, W.Va., in 1976. After one year
studying at Concord State College in Athens, W.Va., he
entered the Slavic Studies Department at the University of
California in California, Pa.

Accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of Greensburg in


1979, he spent a year at St. Mark's Seminary in Erie, Pa.,
before transferring to the Seminary of St. Pius in Erlanger,
Ky., where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1982. After
joining the Arlington Diocese in 1982, he went to Mount St.
Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md., where he earned a
master's degree in theology in 1985.

He was ordained May 10, 1986, by Bishop John R. Keating.


His first assignment was as parochial vicar of St. Agnes
Church in Arlington (1986-90). He served as parochial vicar
of Queen of Apostles Church in Alexandria (1990-92); St.
James Church in Falls Church (1992-95); and St. Luke Church
in McLean (1996-98). He served for a brief time as
administrator of Blessed Sacrament Church in Alexandria
before serving as administrator of Sacred Heart of Jesus
Church in Winchester (1998-99).

Father Kelly served as pastor of St. Leo the Great Church in


Fairfax from (1999-2007); St. Veronica Church in Chantilly
(June-Nov. 2007); and St. Andrew the Apostle Church in
Clifton (2007-15).

Father Dennis W. Kleinmann

Father Dennis W. Kleinmann will become pastor of St.


Veronica Church in Chantilly.

He was born in Milwaukee July 22, 1959, the oldest of eight


children of William and Luvina Kleinmann.

After graduating from Beaver Dam High School, he attended


Bryant and Stratton College in Milwaukee to study
accounting. He worked for eight years as an office manager
at a Wisconsin car dealership before discerning a vocation to
the priesthood.

He attended the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus,


Ohio and Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md. He
was ordained May 15, 1993, by Bishop John R. Keating. His
first assignment was as parochial vicar of St. Michael Church
in Annandale (1993-96). He served as parochial vicar of
Sacred Heart Church in Winchester (1996-2002). He served
as administrator of St. Mary Church in Alexandria (2002-04)
before being named pastor in 2004.

Father Christopher J. Mould

Father Christopher J. Mould will become pastor of St. Andrew


the Apostle Church in Clifton.

He was born Dec. 1, 1959, the fourth of seven children of


John and Catherine Mould. He attended St. John School in
McLean and graduated from Bishop O'Connell High School in
Arlington in 1978.

In 1982, he graduated from the University of Virginia in


Charlottesville with a bachelor's degree in chemistry.

Accepted as a seminarian for the Arlington Diocese in 1982,


he later completed his theological studies at St. Charles
Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, Pa. As a seminarian, he
served at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Arlington, St. John
the Apostle Church in Leesburg and St. Timothy Church in
Chantilly.

He was ordained in May 21, 1988, by Bishop John R. Keating.


His first assignment was as parochial vicar of St. Mary
Church in Alexandria (1988-92). He served as parochial vicar
of St. Thomas à Becket Church in Reston (1992-95); Church
of the Nativity in Burke (1995-97); and St. Mary of the
Immaculate Conception Church in Fredericksburg (1997-
2001). He served as administrator of St. Lawrence the Martyr
Church in Alexandria (2002-04) before becoming pastor in
2004.
