GAME OVERVIEW
The taxi cartel has lost its grip on the six northern cities.
Riders are up for grabs.

In Rideshare Wars, you are the operator of a rideshare

corporation and you are competing for riders across six
cities (represented by rider cards that you use to build your
“market presence” tableau). There are two ways to win:

1. Collect Milestone Cards

A player wins immediately if they have earned the
following number of milestone cards:
2 players 6 milestone cards
3 players 5 milestone cards
4 players 4 milestone cards
You gain 1 milestone card if:
 You are the first player to have riders in all 3 zones of
a city (Each city has three zones in it –Uptown zone,
Midtown zone and Downtown zone)
 At end of your turn, you have at least one rider in:
- Most Uptown zones (minimum 3 zones required)
- Most Midtown zones (minimum 3 zones required)
- Most Downtown zones (minimum 3 zones required)
- Most Cities (minimum of 3 cities required)

3
2. Highest score (after 15 rounds if no player won by
milestone cards)*

 Your score is calculated from the value of rider cards

in your tableau, but only for cities where player has
rider cards in all of the city’s 3 zones (i.e with 1 or
more rider cards in Uptown, 1 or more in Midtown,
and 1 or more in Downtown).
 If a city has 5 or more rider cards, earn bonus points
as follows:

5 rider cards 1 bonus point

6 rider cards 3 bonus points
7 rider cards 7 bonus points
8+ rider cards 12 bonus points

 Milestone cards you earned score 3 points each.

 Then subtract 4 points for each loan card

* If no player wins by milestone cards, the game is played

over 15 rounds (divided into 3 Phases of 5 rounds each).

4
GAME SET UP

(A), (B) and (C) Rider Cards Piles: Shuffle rider cards
and separate out 3 piles (one for each phase). Pile (A) is for
Phase 1, (B) for Phase 2, and (C) for Phase 3.
5
The number of cards in each pile is as follows:

2-player game: 10 cards

3-player game: 15 cards
4-player game: 20 cards
(D) Contested Riders: Reveal top 4 cards from Pile (A).
Place first card in position (E)/slot 1, next into slots 2 and
3, and last card into position (F)/slot 4.

(E) is Slot 1, and (F) is Slot 4

(G) Driver cards discard pile: Driver cards are used to

pay the cost for acquiring rider cards. Deal 7 driver cards to
each player. Remainder (if any) placed face-up in starting
discard pile position (G).

(H) Loan cards: Number of loan cards varies by player

count as follows (3 per player):
2-player game: 6 cards
3-player game: 9 cards
4-player game: 12 cards (All)

(I) Ride request cards draw pile: Shuffle and deal 3 cards
to each player face down - any dealt red letter cards
(explained later) must be returned and replaced. Place
remainder face-down in position (I).
(J) Ride request cards face-up discard pile

6
(K) Rider cards discard pile: Rider cards discarded or
traded placed here face-down in a “messy” way. If the Taxi
Riders draw pile runs out at any point during play, just
shuffle the discard pile into a neat draw pile.

(L) Taxi riders draw pile: Rider cards remaining after

separating piles (A), (B) and (C) are placed here.
(M) Curbside riders: Reveal top 4 cards from the taxi
riders pile and lay them face-up in any order. Each time a
card is acquired from the curbside during play, replace it
with the top card from the taxi riders pile.

(N) Red letter ride request cards: The first 2 “red letter”
cards revealed during a phase are placed here face-up
(partially covering each other) for tracking purposes.

(O) Yellow Milestone cards, (P) Green Milestone cards

7
RIDER CARDS
(1) Card type name
(2) City Code: A to F
(3) Card type artwork
(4) Zone

(5) Card power icon: Effect

“when played” explained
under (7) below

(6) Card value: Points value, OR the number of cards you

gain or discard if the card is traded (where applicable).
(7) Card type icon
(8) Explanation area:
When Played: Card power effect which activates on
placing card in tableau.
When Traded: Effect of trading card for drivers.
(9) Lay immediately icon: When a card with this icon is
acquired from the Contested Riders in the Required Rider
Action (explained later), it must be laid onto tableau right
away, player gains 3 bonus driver cards, and then proceeds
to “End of turn” steps immediately.
In all other cases this icon has no effect.
8
MILESTONE CARDS
There are 10 milestone
cards – 6 yellow cards (1
for each city), and 4 green
cards (most cities, most
uptown zones, midtown
zones, and downtown
zones).
 A player may gain only 1
milestone card per turn
(even if you meet
conditions for earning 2
milestone cards at the end
(1) Milestone name of your turn)
(2) Card artwork
(3) Card conditions  Once earned, a player
(4) Points value never loses a yellow
milestone card

 A player may lose a green milestone card only if

someone else overtakes the player’s most zones or most
cities count – that other person takes the green milestone
card in question at the end of their turn (unless they
choose to earn a different milestone card whose
conditions they also meet on the same turn). Eg, if you
have 3 cities and someone else ends up with 4, they get
the “most cities” green card from you.

9
RIDE REQUEST CARDS
Ride request cards are
used for playing Rider
Actions (explained
later):

(A) Card title

(B) Card artwork

(C) Fun blurb

(D) Game effect

Certain cards with red lettering cause players to discard

driver, rider or ride request cards. In each phase, only the
first 2 red letter cards revealed are played (and placed face
up in set up position N for tracking). Thereafter, all other
red letter cards during that phase are simply discarded.

HOW TO PLAY (2-4 PLAYERS)

Youngest player takes first player card (and goes first),
then deals 1 bonus ride request card to player to his/her
right (because they don’t have choice of contested riders on
the very last turn in the phase). Play proceeds clockwise.
Player turn steps
On your turn you can play one of two choices:

10
Choice 1: Draw ride request cards
i. Draw 3 ride request cards and add to hand. Play any
red letter card immediately, then draw a replacement
ii. Discard any contested rider card of your choice
iii. Place 1 rider card from your hand (if any) onto tableau
Choice 2: Play rider actions
i. Acquire one contested rider (“Required Rider Action”)
ii. Play up to 3 Optional Rider Actions (explained later)
iii. Place 1 rider card from your hand (if any) onto tableau
At any time during a turn, a player may do any of the
following as many times as they wish:
 Buy ride request card (Cost: Discard 2 driver cards)
 Sell/discard ride request card (gain ONE driver card)
 Get 1 or more loans (max. 3 loans per player limit)
End of turn steps
a) Clean up/discard ride request cards you played
b) Earn one milestone card (if conditions met)
c) Check hand size: Limited to 4 rider cards and 4 ride
request cards. Discard excess cards.
d) Replace contested rider acquired or discarded: Slide
remaining cards one slot down (e.g, if slot 3 is now
empty, then slide card in slot 4 to slot 3), then reveal top
rider card from in-play phase pile and place in slot 4.

End of phase
At the end of the Phases 1 and 2, do the following:
11
i. First player card holder gives the card to person to their
left, then gets 1 bonus ride request card
ii. Replace curbside cards with top 4 cards from taxi pile.
iii. Shuffle ride request cards discard pile and tracked red
letter cards (if any) into the ride request draw pile.
iv. Move next phase rider cards pile to set-up position (A)
If there happen to be insufficient rider cards to complete
round at end of phase, add one from taxi pile and place in
highest slot number. The Game ends at end of Phase 3.

RIDER ACTIONS
 A ride request card is required to play each rider action:
- Play face up to carry out card’s unique effect.
- Play face down to carry out any “standard” Action.
 Play ride request cards (and carry out the actions) one at
a time. Place played cards in front of you to track
number of actions played (then clean-up at end of turn).
Required Rider Action
Acquire one rider card from contested riders as follows:
- Pay the cost equal to the rider card’s slot, e.g. discard
2 driver cards to acquire rider card in slot 2.
- Then add acquired rider card to your hand, unless card
has “lay immediately” icon (see page 7) in which case
it must be placed in tableau right away. In that case,
player gains 3 bonus driver cards and immediately
proceeds to “End of turn” steps (see page 10).
12
Optional Rider Actions
Each optional action may be played multiple times.

1. Play ride request card face-up from hand: Carry out

effects described on card
2. Taxi rider pick-up: Draw two top cards from the taxi
riders pile, add one to your hand, and discard the other (or
you can choose to discard both cards).

3. Curbside rider pickup: Pay cost equal to card’s value

(negative value cards are free), then add card to hand.
Replace acquired card with top card from taxi riders pile.
Variable value card curbside pickup illustration
Kate wants to acquire a “2n” value Dudes card (i.e 2
multiplied by number of Dudes cards in tableau). Kate
already has 3 Dudes cards in her tableau. That means
the acquisition cost is 6 (2 x3) - Kate has to discard 6
driver cards to acquire that rider card and add it to her
hand. If Kate had no Dudes cards in her tableau, that
means she would acquire the “2n” Dudes card for zero
cost without discarding any driver cards.

4. Trade 1 rider card from tableau: Gain/discard driver

cards as described on card, then discard the rider card. Only
cards with “when traded” instructions may be traded.

13
LAYING CARDS IN TABLEAU
 Each city forms its own column with Uptown zone cards
at the top, Midtown zone cards in the middle, and
Downtown zone cards at the bottom.
 Cities may be laid out next to each other in no particular
order. For example, city “E” might be next to “A”.
 When you lay rider cards on top of each other in your
tableau, do not cover the panel to the left that has all the
information about the card – that way, you can see what
cards are in your tableau at any point.
 A new card may only be laid on top of existing cards (if
any). Once a card is laid onto tableau, it must not be
moved unless:
i. It is being traded, or
ii. You lay a Mr. Grumpy card with a power on top
of that card which causes the card to get
discarded immediately.

14
Illustrative Tableau

(1) Driver cards may be placed on the table. If a player

prefers, they could hold their driver cards in their hand.
(2) Milestone cards / (3) Loan cards. Place face-up in
their respective positions such that they are visible to other
players

15
FINAL SCORING (2-4 PLAYERS)
Game ends after Phase 3 if no one wins by milestone cards.
Before scoring begins, perform the following:
 Each player pays off loans using driver cards in hand
 Place in tableau all in hand rider cards:
o All card powers must not be carried out.
o No milestone cards may be gained.
Then proceed to scoring.

B city
C city
D city
E city
F city
Cities score subtotal
Add: Milestone cards
Minus: Loan cards
Final score

Step 1: Score cities

Only cities where player has rider cards in all of the city’s
3 zones are scored. Add bonus points if a city has 5 or
more rider cards.

16
Step 2: Tally up each player’s final score
Adding together the city scores, 3 points for each milestone
card, and subtracting 4 points for each loan card.
Step 3: Determine winner
Player with highest points wins. If there is a tie, then the
player among those tied with the most milestone cards
wins. If there is still a tie, the player among those tied with
the fewest rider cards in all their scoring cities is the
winner. If there is a tie, then the tied players share the
victory.
How to score variable value cards
Variable score cards come in values of -2n, -n, n, 2n, 3n.
For example, “3n” means 3 multiplied by number of cards
of that type in tableau.
Variable value card example 1
In her tableau, Jane has 4 Mr. Grumpy cards of -3
value each, one variable Mr. Grumpy card with a
score of 3n in city B, and another variable score Mr.
Grumpy in city E with score of 3n, for a total of six
(6) Mr. Grumpy cards in her tableau. Each of the
variable score Mr. Grumpy cards is worth 3 x 6 = 18.

SOLO VARIANT
Game Setup
Same as 2-4 player game, except for the following:
(A)/(B)/(C ) Phase riders’ piles: Each has 20 cards
(H) Loan cards: Only 3 loan cards in play
17
(O)/(P) Milestone cards: Shuffle all into face-down pile
Overview
In solo plays you are playing against the game:
 No milestone cards are earned in Phase 1
 For Phases 2 and 3, a milestone card is revealed from
face-down pile at the beginning of each turn.
 If you fail to earn the revealed milestone card during
that turn, it is permanently earned by the game. You
instantly lose when game earns certain number of
milestone cards (see table below).
 Final scoring occurs if you avoid instant loss and play
all 15 rounds. Scoring is done the same way as 2-4
players (see page 16). To win, you must meet score
requirement as follows:
Level Instant loss if Winning score
game earns:
1 6 milestone cards 45+ points
2 5 milestone cards 55+ points
3 4 milestone cards 65+ points
How to play solo
Start with 3 ride request cards, and driver cards as follows:
Level 1 - 7 cards; Level 2 - 9 cards; Level 3 – 11 cards.
Player turn steps
 From phase 2, first reveal milestone card from face
down pile
 Play Choice 1 or Choice 2 as follows:
18
Choice 1: Draw ride request cards
i. Draw 3 ride request cards and add to hand. Play any
red letter card immediately, then draw a replacement
ii. Place 1 rider card from your hand (if any) onto tableau
Choice 2: Play rider actions (same as 2-4 player)
i. Acquire one contested rider (“Required Rider Action”)
ii. Play up to 3 Optional Rider Actions (see page 13)
iii. Place 1 rider card from your hand (if any) onto tableau
You may do the following at any time, multiple times:
 Buy ride request card (Cost: Discard 2 driver cards)
 Sell/discard ride request card (gain ONE driver card)
 Get 1 or more loans (max. 3 loans per player limit)
End of turn steps
a) Clean up/discard ride request cards you played
b) Earn revealed milestone card if conditions met. If not
met, the card is permanently accumulated/earned by the
game (even if it’s a green card)

Solo special rule: You lose a green milestone card if,

at the end of turn, you no longer meet the “minimum
of 3” condition, for example, if you traded a rider card
during turn. Once a green milestone card is
accumulated by the game, it never returns to the
player again even if the player subsequently meets
the “minimum of 3 condition”

19
c) Check hand size: Limited to 4 rider cards and 4 ride
request cards. Discard excess cards.
d) Replace all contested riders (only in solo games)
Discard all remaining contested riders. Reveal 4 new
contested riders from in-play Phase deck (position A in
set up) with first one going into slot 1 and so forth.

End of phase
Same as 2-4 players, except there is no bonus ride request
card.

Ending the game (if you do not incur instant loss)

Same as 2-4 players
Solo final scoring
 Same as 2-4 players
 To win, you must meet minimum score requirement
depending on level (see table on page 19).
