The

Parable
of the
Persistent
Widow
Luke 18:1-8
KFC Monthly Assembly
October- Cycle C
One day, Jesus told His disciples another
parable. The story is about the judge and
the widow.
Do you know
what is a
judge?
Do you know what
is a judge?

A judge is a person who

makes a decision in a court.
How about a
widow, do you
know what a
widow is?
How about a widow,
do you know what a
widow is?

A widow is a woman whose

husband has already died.
Jesus tells this story to teach us that
we should never get tired of praying.
The story starts about a judge
who is rude and strict. He is only
concerned with the money and not
to help the poor.
One day, a poor
widow was cheated
by a bad man. She
wanted justice for
herself, so she went
to the judge.
She was so poor that
she cannot pay the
money that the judge
asked of her.
But, she did not give up hope.
She asked the judge to punish
the bad man who cheated her.
When the judge
refused, she
disturbed him day…
and night…
until he finally
agreed to what
she wanted.
Then Jesus said to them that we
must never lose heart while
praying.
God, who loves His children, will
answer those who always ask
for Him.

Saint Francis of Assisi
October 4
Saint Francis was born
in 1181. He was a son of
a rich family. Francis
lived a sinful life.
He was a knight and
was held captured
during war but was
released. Do you know
what is a knight?
A knight is a warrior
who protects the king
and the kingdom from
enemies.
One night, on his way
to another battle, he
had a dream in which
God told him to go
home because what he
is doing is wrong.
He went back home
and since then he gave
up his riches and
started to live a life of
poverty and spent
more time in prayer.
One day while he was
praying, he heard
Christ speaking to him,
“Francis, repair my
Church”
At first, he thought
Christ was talking
about the ruined
church where he was
praying.
He then realized that
Jesus is talking about
the people, to draw
them back to Christ.
He was famous of his
teaching, leading the
people back to Christ.
He also talked to
animals and they
listened to him.
He was also known
because of his love for
the environment and
animals, addressing
them as his brothers
and sisters.
He also received the
stigmata, the marks of
the wounds that Christ
suffered on the cross.
Saint Francis is the
patron saint of
animals, ecologists and
merchants.
