I. Traffic Volume Count Survey (Linao-Carig Road - Maharlika Highway)
II. Objectives:
To conduct manual traffic volume count at the junction of Linao-Carig
Road and Maharlika Highway
To determine the total volume of traffic entering the junction from all
directions.
To analyze and interpret the peak hour volume.

IV. Method of Data Collection
Manual traffic count was used to tally the number of vehicles passing
through the survey area. One (1) surveyor was assigned to record the vehicular
volume for each movement except for movements 2 and 6 which have only one
(1) surveyor assigned for each due to the little volume of vehicles passing through
these directions. The watches of the surveyors were synchronized and a time
keeper was assigned to make sure that the 15-minute interval was strictly
observed.
V. Output
The figure below shows the distribution of vehicles per type for the 1-hour
survey. Since the study area is a public transport route and also near the Cagayan
State University, Carig Campus and Regional Offices, tricycle, motorcycle and
car group was recorded as the most frequent vehicle type that passed through the
survey area with 20%, 17% and also 17% of the total volume, respectively.
Trucks, jeepneys, pick-ups, and vans was recorded to be 4%, 1%, 4% and 4% of
the total volume. The total volume recorded was 2975 vehicles.

movements. Thus, the interval 9:20-9:35am has the highest traffic volume with
781 vehicles, 10:05-10:20 has 777 vehicles, 9:50-10:05am has 714 vehicles and
9:35-9:50am has 703 vehicles.

The figure presented clearly shows the distribution of traffic every 15-
minutes. It is observed that the peak hour for movement 4 occurred during
9:20am-9:35am and the lowest traffic volume occurred during 9:35-9:50.

VI. Analysis
Peak hour volume for the one hour survey period was recorded between
9:20am - 9:35am from the following movements.
