INTRODUCTION
My name is Kiranjeet Kaur. I was born in Ferozepur. I am highly determined and disciplined person, when I
completed my 12th we had a career counseling fair at our school. The counselor asked me my area of interest
and I told him that I am very fascinated about hotel and restaurants.Upon hearing this my father appreciated me
as I was having good communication skills and managing affairs.
As per my qualification, I have done my secondary education from PSEB board in year 2016 with 91.3% and
senior secondary education from CBSE in year 2018 with 84.2 %. After my senior secondary education, then I
prepared myself for IELTS as that was mandatory to get admission over there and appeared my exam in 14 FEB
2019 and scored 6 Band. Then I searched about some famous universities for my course and after proper
analysis and comparison finally I have selected University of West London and I have selected BA
(Hons) Travel and Tourism Management.
And I want to get practical knowledge of this field and want to be professional in this field. Moreover, with
globalization gaining acceptance with more and more countries, the hotel management industry is truly
becoming global. As hotel chain owners are opening new hotels in various big and small cities, and countries
and it has huge requirement for trained professionals. After completion of my study I will be having the skills
required to effectively lead, supervise, and manage teams of people. This course will provide me the knowledge
and skills of tourism & hotel management. I want to get the practical knowledge about hotel operational skills,
management practices in the hospitality industry and the skills needed for employment in a dynamic and
competitive hotel and tourism environment.
Why study in United Kingdom - Comparison of similar courses overseas and India
No doubt the Indian educational provider facilitates recognized degree qualification but for me the prime reason
why I do not want to pursue this program in my home country is that not even a single famous institute like
offers specialization at bachelor degree level. Private universities in India like Chandigarh University provide
degrees like Tourism and Hospitality Management and MSC in Hotel and Hospitality Management, Manipal
university again is providing degree in hospitality and tourism management which indeed covers the same
holistic study that I have already undertaken. None of the universities offer specialized subject study for a
student to excel in one particular arena. Also, if speaking about the implication of the knowledge earned these
universities are lacking industrial connectivity which do not bring the platform to students to put their skills in
operations by getting the real feel of the working sectors. Specialization in my opinion helps a person to focus
his or her career in one direction. Studying abroad will allow me to explore abundant and wide avenues
approachable for me.
UK is the most-preferred destination in terms of education amongst international students because of its
academic reputation and the cultural diversity it possesses. UK qualifications are recognized worldwide by
employers and leading educational institutions. The living standard is comparatively higher than the other
nations. Moreover, living expenses and tuition costs are considerably lower. Students can work while they
study, making it feasible to gain work experience and to manage their expenses during the stay. UK is at the
forefront of new technology and innovations making it beneficial for the students to take advantage of the
impressive technology and research resources. UK provides a safe and cordial atmosphere apt for students to
learn and travel. London is the capital and most popular city of UK. It has been named as the world’s most
livable city as well as the QS World University Rankings listed London as one of the leading student city.
Moreover, tourist attractions there are worth visit and the landscape beauty left me spellbound. People are warm
and friendly; the atmosphere is lively and it's easy to get around. The accommodation options are easily
accessible in London and at lower rates than other cities, making it much student-friendly city. Having a
globally recognized UK education allows me to open my wings to explore the world with confidence to fulfill
my career goals.
Tourism management degree can lead to a range of exciting careers, both in the UK and overseas. It helps
people design their dream holidays, show people incredible attractions, or inspire people to visit a particular
place. My skills will suit roles with airlines, travel companies like AirBnB, tour operators, visitor attractions,
resorts and destination marketing organizations. I could also focus on emerging areas such as ecotourism, or
explore how to make destinations work for locals as well as tourists. There are excellent opportunities for travel.
Spending a year on a placement or studying overseas could help me make valuable international connections.
