WLAC LEARNING CENTER -

WRITING LAB

MEET THE TUTORS

Bio: Hi, there! My name is Juderay Almario, and I am a
Tutor in West Los Angeles College’s Writing Lab. We

work with many different subjects such as English,

Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History,

Communications, etc. In my free time, I like to listen

to/play music, go to Costco, and eat until my

stomach no longer agrees!

My Philosophy Behind Tutoring, Learning, and/or

Writing: Learning is a life-long, never-ending
process, starting from the moment we are born until

our last breath. It’s an honor to work as a Tutor in

West Los Angeles College’s Learning Center as I learn

just as much from my tutees (if not more!) as they do

from me. I really enjoy the intimacy that a setting like

tutoring fosters as it allows for genuine social

Name: Juderay Almario connections to be created – making the learning

experience much more meaningful.

Major: Sociology
Bio: I am a young, energetic tutor
who enjoys a nice day at the beach

and a quality time with friends. I

believe school can also be enjoyable

and I try to look at life with a positive

lens.

My Philosophy Behind Tutoring,

Learning, and/or Writing: Everyone
is capable of success and in order to

reach it you must be motivated and

diligent. Writing efficiently is very

craft that can be nurtured.

Major: Nursing

Bio: I am a WLAC transfer student and senior

undergrad at CSULB. I aspire to teach English

abroad. I am Honduran and come from a family of six.

I am interested in various arts and enjoy competitive

sports.

My Philosophy Behind Tutoring, Learning, and/or

Writing: I used to be nervous and not confident at all
in my writing and could never think of helping

someone else with their writing. Becoming a tutor has

given me newfound sense of what being a student

means. I realize more clearly how I can relate with

others' struggles in college, whether it's a lack of self-

confidence in one's writing or not even knowing where

to start with an assignment. Helping others with their

assignments also helped me become a better student

myself. As a result, being a tutor has taught me to

her peers reach their full potential. With strong

leadership skills, Monroe hopes to change and

enhance both the mindsets of those wanting to

succeed, as well as those who have not yet found

themselves, advancing learning here at West Los

Angeles College and in her community.
