1 General
The Stationary Desert Rig 1500 HP is used in areas with outside temperatures
from -20°C to +55°C.
The Rig consists of the following main elements:
Swing up Substructure
Cantilever Mast
In addition to this manual observe the manuals of the sub supplier components
(part of the Rig Documentation).
The relevant safety, installation and assembly instructions for each component
are given in the instructions and have to be followed.
Construction principle:
Each transport / assembly unit, bolts and screws are marked with numbers. In
each steps the number of the required parts are named.
This manual can be used as a checklist. The rig-up foreman certifies with his
signature that he has followed this procedure in detail.
Determining the direction of the drilling rig is designated in accordance with the
international accepted abbreviations and used in the manuals in English and not
translated.

operation.
The agreed contract obligations, the general terms and conditions and the
delivery terms of the manufacture are set at the moment of the conclusion of the
contract; where valid legal regulations are applicable.
For specially designed models, the claim of additional ordering options and/or due
to recent technological changes the actual delivery can differ from the
explanations and illustrations of this manual.
1.5 Copyright
This manual is a protected document according to the law against unfair
competition and serves only internal purposes.
Release of the manual to third parties, reproductions of any type and form - even
in part - as well as recovery and / or communication of the contents without
written permission of the manufacturer, except for internal purposes is not
allowed.
Violation commits to compensation. Further claims remain reserved.
2 Safety
This Chapter gives an overview of all important safety aspects for optimum
protection of the personnel and for a safe and trouble free operation.
Nonobservant of the following operation- and safety- instructions could lead to
significant hazards.
A comprehensive first aid and emergency plan must be set in action and has to
be in awareness of all members of the rig up crew.
Rig-up crew shall be provided with individual security facilities and tools and
inventory.
When performing site preparation work and rigging-up operations observe the
requirements of safety rules in oil-and -gas industry and regulations being in force
for carrying out erection works.
Unauthorized persons are not allowed in the erection zone and access to the site
must be restricted in general.
Tractors and cr anes shall have s er vic eable s ound and light indication.
Tractors and cranes shall have serviceable sound and light indication.
Hot wor k on any part of the equi pment (wel ding, c utting, grinding) r equires a
Hot work on any part of the equipment (welding, cutting, grinding) requires a
permission by the responsible safety instructor. Part of the permission are safety
precautions which have to be undertaken for the specific work to be done.
Works are allowed in elevated positions with wind loads up to 12 m/s, unless
restricted by other authorities.
Only specially trained builders are allowed to carry out rigging operations during
erection and dismantling.
The members of the rig up crew must be physically and mentally in good
conditions and have to pass regular medical examinations according to the
operators and local occupational safety standards.
2 (two) Crane of 80t lifting capacity but at least 50 mt at hook, working height
of 20 m and simultaneous working radius of 8,5 m
1 (one) Manlift, elevation height 20 m
Alternative:
1 (one) Crane of 160t lifting capacity
direct the load by hand or change the position of slings with the load
suspended
permit hoisting if other people are on the load
perform handling operations directly under the main lines irrespective of
voltage.
Preconditions:
In a first step the assembly site has to be prepared according to the chapter
“Boundary Conditions” soil and surrounding. Required medias e.g. water,
fuel and electrical power must be provided.
Lifting and transportation means as any other specific tools must be
available and in good conditions.
Warehouse and workshop operations shall be established and all equipment
parts on-site.
Procedure:
Make sure that the site conditions for Rig-Up and Skidding are fulfilled by
undertaking a plausibility check on basis of appropriate documents and with soil
mechanical test certificates.
NOTE!
The inclination of the drill site influences the fit
precision of the substructure assembly and
requires subsequent mast straightening
(shimming).
The more precisely the substructure is aligned, the
easier it will be to install and operate the Traveling
Block and top drive in the mast.
Visitor
Task: visit of the product.
Requirement: A person guided by a qualified person for safety.
The non observance of the requirements to personal is considered unintended
use.
2.9 Training
The staff instructions for the life cycles listed below are the responsibility of the
drill operator.
Transport,
Assembly, installation work,
Commissioning,
Operation,
Inspection, repair and maintenance,
Decommissioning
Disassembly, storage and disposal
Protective Clothing
To protect against environmental conditions. Protective clothing needs to meet
the following Characteristics:
tight,
low tensile strength,
flame retardant,
antistatic.
Safety Helmet
To protect against bumping, collision and falling objects.
Protective Gloves
To protect the hands from friction, abrasion, nip and pinch or deeper injuries, and
contact with hot surfaces.
Hearing protection
To protect against hearing damage.
Safety goggles
To protect against flying objects and splashes.
Safety Belt
Should be worn to reduce risk of a fall.
Ensure, that the safety belt is fitted correctly to the body and that the safety rope
is connected to anchorage point. A shock absorber may be used also.
Only special trained personnel are permitted to use a safety belt.
3 Technical data
General Project Description
Bentec GmbH performed the engineering, procurement and construction of land
drilling rigs, which will operate in harsh environment. The drilling rigs are of a

1. Maximum standard size:
3,66 m wide x 3,65m height x 14,30m length
2. Maximum weight:
42 t
3. Minimum effective crane capacity in operation mode for installation at
drilling location:
min. 80 t
Utilities
1. Electric Power : 600V 60 Hz 3 phase
2. Compressed Air Supply: approx. 11 bar
3. Hydraulic Power:
max. working pressure: 173 bar
max. flow rate: 160 l/min
Component tracking
Major structural components get a Unit number, they are on metal tags (ca.
115mmx162mmx12mm).Those fixed permanently on those components on the
lower side, according to their final installation position.
Equipment packages e.g. the drawworks, do not have Unit Numbers.Positioning
