Introduction
We have been looking at waste and recycling this term. Over the next few weeks we are going to
collect plastic lids from teachers and students that we can trade in for some beautiful pots for our
classroom during our incursion later this term. This will go beautifully with out recycled garden wall!
To collect the lids we will need to make collection boxes to go around the school, and posters to let
everyone know what they are for and why we are doing this.

Brief
Your job will be to help design, plan and create a poster and a collection box in a small group. We
will need to consider where we will put the boxes. Where will they be most effective? The posters
need to have clear and easy to read information on them, telling people what the collection boxes
are for. They also need to be eye-catching so people notice them. The collection boxes must be
safe and they should look good. Most of all they need to be functional. Throughout the process I
will be asking students to take photos of the progress for our storyboard on recycling.

Generating Designs
Your group needs to create 1 poster design plan, and 3 box design plans (only 1 will be used to make
your collection box). Poster designs should match the boxes they go with. When creating your
design plans, please consider the following points:
* Is your poster clearly stating what the collection box is for?
* How many lids might be collected in a week? Will the box be big enough?
* What are the key features on the collection box? What does it need to have?
* Will the design be safe once it is made? Will it last for a week outside?
* Consider illustrating the link to sustainable development goal 12.
