A social event is a gathering where the purpose is to bring people together in a group so they can

socialize. A marketing strategy is a plan of action designed to promote and sell a product or service.
A social event I will market is the annual Interuniversity ZUSA sporting events. Z.U.S.A stands
for Zimbabwe University Sports Association, I will first of all target the Millennial age group at
the various universities around Zimbabwe so that they are notified of the date and venue of the
Zusa Sports two months before the games so that they can save money for transport and pocket
money. Its important for Students to save money so that those who are not athletes can have
money pocket money or transport money in case their university does not provide transport to
students who don’t have a sport.

The Zusa sporting event will include sporting events like swimming, soccer, athletics, netball,
volleyball, basketball, hockey, chess, darts and pool. The ZUSA sporting events will be free to
attend for University students who present their student I.Ds. For all sponsors and University
authorities to know of this event I will use media such as the radio and Television to advertise. I
will advertise the sporting event on ZBC tv and Radio stations such as Zi fm Stereo, ZBC Power
Fm, Star Fm, ZBC Classic 263, Capitalk Fm and ZBC National Fm. My advert on television and
will be a video containing information such as the venue and date of the sporting event plus
those who can attend the event. The radio advert will also contain information such as the venue,
date and those eligible to attend.

The ZUSA sports will end with a party for sportsmen to interact and be entertained, I will make a
poster containing information such as the artists that will perform, entrance fee, time and date of
the event and those who can attend the event. The poster will be printed and put on university
notice boards so that more people might attend the sporting event.

The Zusa sports might be posted on social media such as Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook,
Twitter and YouTube. We will post details of the event in the form of a digital poster on the
ZUSA facebook page and ZUSA Instagram account. We might also make a video advert and pay
Facebook and Youtube for circulating it online since most University Students are always online
watching YouTube tutorials.

We will also try to get sponsors who can provide prizes in the form of grocery hampers and
toiletry specific for young women so that they can both participate and attend the event so that
they can greatly benefit. We will also invite sports club officials across Africa to attend so they
can scout for talent amongs our own young women and men who play a certain sport. We will
advertise the Z.U.S
