Explain why it is difficult to locate an individual file?

All arriving applications are place in one/the same in-tray in which lengthy procedures with too many
activities are placed within. Every application made has only one identifier in the top left corner for which
information inside each application is coded into the information system only once during all the process.
Additionally, the information system is not updated with the current status of the application knowing
that all process is physically-oriented.

Summarize the problems of the CEUPU process.

CEUPU exhibited too much bureaucracy in their system. They lack information and feedback from the
applicant tend to accept. Also, giving the final answer to the applicant is delay. Decision making was slow
given in the relatively small amount of money being applied for. In addition, too many files are difficult to
process from receipt employees. Their work was clear and routine for an unmotivated employee does
not know to react. They also experienced a risk of alienating the best potential applicants. Moreover, from
the applications they received a decline of 5% was experienced and half of the applications are sent back
in order to collect missed information.

What are your suggestions would you make to improve the process?

To improve the process, fully implement an automation of the systems by going digital and computer-
automated. In simplification, unify all the parts of the process. For applications problems, receive the
applications sent directly from the academe not through the University Liaison Officers (ULO’s).
Additionally, being clearer about the information and documents are mere factor needed from the
beginning. Moreover, open a feedback channel between the employee and academe in orders to raise
the concerns of the applicants who are troubled throughout the process. Lastly, install a unique code
tracker in every application for the applicant is able to consult his/her status online.

2. Describe the four options highlighted in the case in terms of feasibility, acceptability and vulnerability

A. Remove It

Feasibility – Feasible option but possible technical problem may arise due to fund, manpower and skills

Acceptability – Acceptable option yet may be giving up potential profits

Vulnerability – Safe option however it is highly steady and predictale, less visitors with young children and
less revenue

B. Do nothing

Feasibility – the most feasible option for the business can achieve this with current resources

Acceptability – not acceptable knowing it’s cost increasing amount of maintenance every year

Vulnerability – not acceptable for it is not financially wise at all

C. Replace with similar

Feasibility – moderate option

Acceptability – moderate option by bringing new hardware in compliance with safety standards.

Vulnerability – high option for risk of this choice is too high.

C. Replace with substantially better

Feasibility – low option, from the perspectives of cost and budgeting, this is not attractive at all.

Acceptability – high option, bring a state-of-the-art farmyard water system and growth in visitor number

Vulnerability – high option, the veryonservative estimation about recovering the investment is 7 years.

3. What does the concept of interactive design mean for a service such as adventure playground described
here?

The concept of interactive design mean for a service like children playground should aim the widest
possible range of opportunities. These method will spontaneously give free expression of children’s drive
to play. Also, this would give them an engagement in the full range of play types chosen by the children.
Exploration of physical, social, emotional and imaginary and sensory spaces gives a free flow and respond
to play cues to ensure children can determine the content and intent of their play. This can create a flexible
space for children feel a sense of magical places. Lastly, active involvement of children and young people
